Global warming hitting Northwest hard, researchers warn

By Craig Welch
Seattle Times staff reporter

To find the most compelling evidence to date that global warming could shrink damp Cascade snows by half in coming decades, Seattle scientists first took a step back in time.

They picked through a half-century of snow data from Arizona to British Columbia to better grasp how an atmospheric stew of greenhouse gases may shape our region for years to come.

Their conclusion: Their earlier warnings about future water shortages in the Northwest were more accurate — perhaps even understated.

1. Given that media corruption is a major problem, I think it's wise to bash
the corporate media every chance we get. Every time I post an article from the Seattle Times, I remind viewers that the Times endorsed George W. Bush. I sometimes take a swing at the Times' owner, the deranged "Crank" Blethen, too.

I'm not saying the article you posted isn't true, though it should be pointed out that there are very few, if any, environmentalists in Seattle. Everything has been subverted by the Seattle Chamber of Commerce.

3. The Times endorsed Bush because Blethen made them
They're editorial board was unanimous for Gore, but it was overruled by Blethen solely because of inheritence tax issues.

I am not saying that that was the right thing to do (it certainly WASN'T), but it isn't right to condemn or imply alterior motives when a newspaper prints research from a University of Washington study solely because their editorial board was forcibly overruled four years ago (as far as I can tell, the only time this has happened).

Can you not take time to look at the whole rather than focusing on a one time flaw?
