Spouse of outed CIA officer signs on with Kerry

By Joseph Curl
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Joseph C. Wilson, a former Clinton appointee whose unsubstantiated charge that senior White House officials leaked the identity of his CIA officer wife and prompted a grand jury probe, has taken a prominent role in the presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry.

The career diplomat and senior director for Africa policy for the National Security Council during the Clinton administration has campaigned for the Democratic presidential front-runner in at least six states. Mr. Wilson has also been offering the Massachusetts candidate speechwriting tips.

A two-day visit to Seattle last week, just a day before the state's Democratic caucuses, illustrates the role Mr. Wilson will play as the Kerry campaign ramps up.

"We went to war under false pretenses and that is becoming abundantly clear to the American people," he told hundreds of students during a foreign policy forum at the University of Washington. "I don't care who you vote for, but get out there and caucus. Don't leave it to the neoconservatives and evangelical Christians," Mr. Wilson said.

16. because they say Wilson was trying to undermine Bush from the begining
it shouldn't matter (and legally it doesn't) but people don't bother to think that hard.

9. The leaking is a partisan issue.
Think they'd leak a Neocon's spouse's CIA status?

11. Not likely,
but then if Joseph Wilson were a repug
he would have been in goose step with
the rest of them and not trying to speak
the truth. The Borg do not allow individual
thought.

3. What the FUCK is this?
"...whose unsubstantiated charge..."

How is it unsubstantiated? Besides, Novacula was the one who said it was senior admin. officials, not Wilson.

4. If I could find this in a sane newspaper I would have posted it
So far, only the Washington Times is reporting it, so you have to wade through their GOP BS.....

13. Yes, indeed...the CIA is definitely in the habit of publicly requesting..
...that the DOJ formally investigate the Executive Branch based on an "unsubstantiated charge" of leaking the identity of an agent in the field.

Yeah...right.

5. Soon to be not "'unsubstantiated"'
Edited on Sat Feb-14-04 06:48 PM by JoFerret
probably. And as for the source - well, more grist for those conspiracy theorists who choose to see the BFEE crumbling from within.

7. Wilson signed on with Kerry last fall
He was brought on board by Rand Beers who walked out of his job at the NSC and joined the Kerry campaign.

There is some info here:

10. Yes, Wilson posted his endorsement of Kerry on his website
for months now and has spoken about his support for Kerry at his public appearances (at least the one that I went to when he came to Florida).

14. The article has quite a slant
To the right, rivaling that of the Tower of Pisa. Not as bad as Rush or Drudge, but you can certainly tell who the owners of the paper are.

17. Since When Is the Charge "UNSUBSTANTIATED"?
Yeppers, that Tower of Pisa is leaning so far it's about to fall over. Guess that "unsubstantiated charge" is why the Shrubbites are hiring lawyers and the grand jury is hauling them around.
