Fort Dix five guilty of conspiracy to kill soldiers
Source: NJ.com

Five Muslim immigrants from South Jersey were convicted today of plotting to kill American soldiers, a crime that prosecutors said demonstrated how Al Qaeda was using the Internet to recruit, train and incite supporters for attacks in the United States and around the world.

The verdicts represented a victory for prosecutors and validation of tactics the FBI has increasingly used nationwide to detect and disrupt suspected terror organizations. They were arrested in May 2007, after a 15-month investigation that ended when two suspects tried to buy automatic weapons from an FBI informant.

3. The phrase "a validation of tactics" always worries me
Probably because it's a confession that they're up to tactics that need vailidation.

5. One Question
Was there ever any doubt that these men would be found guilty?

6. how is it a "mind crime" to buy 7 automatic weapons?
once they tried to purchase dangerous weapons, sorry, they crossed a line between the asshole who just shoots off his mouth and the asshole who is taking steps to hurt somebody

must we wait until an innocent person is killed every goddamn time, or is it okay if you have recording of someone boasting of wanting to fight and then that person purchases a gun to figure out that he's probably more than a talker?

7. I wonder if the DUers will have the same feelings for the 2 idiots . . .
from Tennessee that have been arrested for their conspiracy to kill Obama and multiple minorities?

11. And that's exactly what they did. They took actions (trying to buy arms)
in 'furtherance' of their conspiracy.

Everyone isn't innocent folks, no matter how much you hate the bush** admin.

12. You mean the "gun buy arranged by the FBI" -- according to the article?
Scapegoating otherwise incompetents by using millions of tax dollars to make a case and "justify" such tactics is a long, long, long ways from "waiting until an innocent person is killed." No one is waiting for anything. That's not the problem.

And that sort of thinking is a bit too black and white for most.
