Obama greets military troops, families on Christmas
Source: CNN

(CNN) -- President-elect Barack Obama visited military personnel and their families enjoying Christmas dinner at a Marine Corps base in Hawaii Thursday during his holiday vacation.

Obama went to Marine Corps Base Hawaii Kaneohe Bay on Oahu where he mingled with Marines and sailors. Obama and the troops also had a traditional dinner including turkey, roast beef, ham and trimmings.

Obama, dressed casually in a blue polo shirt and dark khaki trousers, chatted casually, shook hands and posed for photos with men and women in the dining hall, which had been decorated with Christmas trees and Santa figurines.

Shortly before Obama entered the room, a Marine shouted to the crowd scattered across 25 tables, "You need to take you seats, the president-elect is going to be coming."

2. I'm soooooo happy he's going to be my new Commander-in-Chief...
...From a Sailor's perspective, you can honestly feel a difference in the Navy now that he's been elected. It's like there's a new optimism that was absent before.

7. How so?
Everyone I know who's been in the US Navy has been out for a few years, so my connection to how folks were acting in it's been cut for awhile.

3. The president's priorities...
I have no problem with him honoring our troops but I do have a problem with his not honoring the other Americans who have also sacrificed and in some cases been sacrificed - there was not some Christmas dinner for the poor and homeless where he could have also spent part of the day?

Obviously they don't matter. The agenda matters. And it isn't the agenda of the people who elected him.

8. Indeed...
It's important that Obama show support for this downtrodden demographic who were so totally forgotten by the Bush administration.

:sarcasm:

11. How do you know he didnt?
Both Obama and Biden served meals at a homeless shelter during Thanksgiving. Perhaps they did this Christmas without all the cameras and fanfare?
