Poll: 75% glad Bush is done; "Good riddance."
Source: CNN

A new national poll suggests that three out of four Americans feel President Bush's departure from office is coming not a moment too soon. Seventy-five percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Friday said they're glad Bush is going; 23 percent indicated they'll miss him.

"Earlier this year, Bush scored some of the lowest presidential approval ratings we've seen in half a century, so it's understandable that the public is eager for a new president to step in," said Keating Holland, CNN polling director.

CNN senior political analyst Bill Schneider added, "As President Bush prepares to leave office, the American public has a parting thought: Good riddance. At least that's the way three-quarters feel."...

***

"The public has completely lost confidence in this president," Schneider said....

***

Only 27 percent of those questioned in the poll approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president; 72 percent disapprove. "President Bush's job approval rating has been at or below freezing since the beginning of the year," Schneider said. "The current 27 percent approval rating is one of the lowest ratings for any president, ever."...

Then Jenna Bush can run because we all know how smart she is!
Jenna can run with Sara Palin!

7. Couldn't believe it.......the Yahoo poll today was laughable.
Edited on Fri Dec-26-08 01:15 PM by Hulk
I went back to find the story, but it vanished. I believe it said something like "Obama is the most admired figure today, and bush was second." I about choked when I saw that.

To believe that 25% of this nation is NOT glad to see this idiot out of Washington says a LOT about just how brain dead and totally lame this country has gotten. What would it take to convince them? Maybe if he came over and physically raped their daughters, wifes, mothers...then stole everything of value from their savings...then made indentured slaves of their children for the next 50+ years.

Wait!! He's done everything but physically raped the women. I guess that's what's holding them.

You had to read that Yahoo story closely to realize that Obama received something like a 39% most admirable vote while Bush came in second at 5%. I still will never understand why that waste of human flesh even came in second but I guess there are a lot of 'morans' out there.

8. There's that roughly 25% or so again.
No matter how badly he screws up, they'll stick with him absolutely.

Let's tally the before and after of Bush. After he got into office, we had the worst terrorist attack ever, we have two wars and counting, we've been spied on by our government, the military is a black hole of spending, the vets that served and come back are treated in rat infested buildings, the Justice Department is corrupted, every department of the federal government has been compromised from the EPA to NASA, he lost an entire city, he let the treasonous Scooter off the hook, the infrastructure is literally crumbling away, the richest one percent got even richer while the middle class got significantly poorer, we're hated around the world more than ever, and oh yeah, we're heading into a depression.

But at least he's not like that snooty Al Gore who says he invented the internet.

60. I'm a 7th generation Texan and you are absolutely right about Texas
having been historically a Democratic state until about the early to mid 70's. Most people that start that Texas screed have never been here and are just operating off of many misconceptions. We certainly have our share of troubles and of myopic conservatives, but there is a lot more to Texas than that. It's the same screed about the South. The South has a lot of issues to deal with, but these issues are certainly not isolated to the South either.

it means that despite the wall to wall pro- Right wing propaganda in this country, 75% aren't being fooled, at least not when it comes to Bush.

If about 10% of that 75% can be firmed up for the left (they already lean left, but they think they don't), this country will be a progressive country for some time to come.

any of the major goals they were elected to do two years ago, i.e. stand up to the dufus-in-chief. And they just handed the thieves $800 billion with more to come, while local governments are slashing services all around the nation. That stuff tends to make you really unpopular.

The real conservatives in power NEVER DID. Like the Religious Right, little Dubya was chosen to be a patsy, because they knew he'd be dumb enough to go along with whatever they wanted.

He was used.

He still doesn't get it.

Even the Religious Right are starting to get that they are being used.

This is no apology. Bush is a wanker. But the Conservatives have offered up nothing but PR cardboard cutout presidents and candidates for president since Ronnie Raygun. I mean, Jesus, remember the Repug lineup in the primaries? Were they KIDDING? And topped with Sarah Palin.

34. I would really like to see a profile of that 25-29% who keep approving Bush and his performance.
In his 8 years we went from budget surpluses to record deficits and debt with no end in sight.

We are at war on two fronts that are going nowhere. One front never should have been started; the other, we totally mismanaged.

The economy is in its worst slump since the Great Depression and could get worse.

This administration has set new standards for corruption, cronyism, incompetence and disregard for the law and Constitution.

Our stature as a world leader has plunged. We're regarded as a rogue nation hellbent on invading countries to serve our selfish interests.

And roughly one-fourth of the people surveyed approve of this idiot? I vote for sending these people to their own planet. Take Bush with them, if they're so happy with him.

They'd cut their nose and ears off to spite their face. Can't admit they failed. I mean, haven't you heard? Bush is not really a conservative now.

Childish macho complexes.

It's this kind of thinking:

Trickle down economics works...period. Why, because they say it does, and Dems don't like it so it must be good.

It failed during Reagan because there wasn't enough time to see the stellar results before a Dem got in and ruined everything. Or something.

It didn't work this time because of terrorists, or it wasn't implemented correctly by that nonconservative Bush.

Or anything else....anything but the notion that the idea doesn't work.

There's always some (changing) person or thing that is between us and a perfect conservative world. It has nothing to do with a flawed vision.

50. The Harken Energy Board of Directors might take on the "Insider Stock Trader Con" again.
Pappy Bush was successful in convincing his close pal,
the Texas S.E.C. Investigating Attorney
to lay off Jr., the last time around...

And just like Pappy Bush,
might just put Junior on the Barack Gold Board,
for a couple bags full of cash... :toast:

63. In that 75% there is a small % of super-RW-nuts
Who think that W failed because he was not "conservative enough". It's a desperate minority who supported everything he did, but want to distance themselves from his complete failure and can not admit that their ideology is bankrupt beyond redemption. These are the dead-enders who are excited about Palin 2012.

66. The American people can’t wait for Bush to leave office
The family members of all of the people who were murdered by George W. Bush must be “glad Bush is done.” For example, Mike Connell (indicated below), and more than 4,000 U.S. service members were murdered by Bush.

“Bush Insider Who Planned To Tell All Killed In Plane Crash: Non-Profit Demands Full Federal Investigation . . . WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Michael Connell, the Bush IT expert who has been directly implicated in the rigging of George Bush’s 2000 and 2004 elections, was killed last night when his single engine plane crashed three miles short of the Akron airport. Velvet Revolution (‘VR’), a non-profit that has been investigating Mr. Connell’s activities for the past two years, can now reveal that a person close to Mr. Connell has recently been discussing with a VR investigator how he can tell all about his work for George Bush. Mr. Connell told a close associate that he was afraid that George Bush and Dick Cheney would ‘throw under the bus’” (Posted by Curly. (2008, December 22). Witness to Bush Crimes Dies Under Fascinating Coincidence. groups.google.com. Retrieved December 26, 2008, from groups.google.com).

“Michael Connell Cancelled Two Flights on Suspicion his Plane may be SABOTAGED !!!” (Retrieved December 26, 2008, from youtube.com).

“Bush Whistleblower<,> Killed In Mysterious Plane Crash” (Zharkov. Retrieved December 26, 2008, from engforum.pravda.ru).

“The death of Republican ‘IT guru’ Mike Connell last Friday in a fiery plane crash has been the subject of intense speculation online about whether it might have been murder. . . . ‘Some say Connell was about to reveal embarrassing details involving senior members of the Bush Administration,’ Taylor explained, ‘including their involvement in destroying incriminating emails and rigging elections. . . . He was an experienced pilot. Was it an accident, or murder?’ . . . A tipster close to the McCain campaign disclosed to VR in July that Mr. Connell’s life was in jeopardy and that Karl Rove had threatened him and his wife” (David Edwards and Muriel Kane. (2008, December 23). Ohio TV station: Was Connell crash an accident or murder? rawstory.com. Retrieved December 26, 2008, from rawstory.com).

70. I still don't beleive he beat Kerry by 3 million votes.
His approval rating just bumped up in late 2004 and then started dropping in early 2005. Something was very rotten in Denmark about that 3 mil vote advantage.

73. "Better the devil you know". And some theft.
I think it was stolen also. I refused to believe people are that damned stupid:

I wrote this prior to the landslide. Looks like America woke up after all. Even if it DID take them 8 years.

80. You gotta wonder what it would take for that 27% that still approves of Bush's job
performance to disapprove of someone. I'm thinking they'd approve of anyone they voted for, no matter what he or she did.

81. He's not done yet. Christ! He's still raping and pillaging.
Once again our "news" media deflects attention away from the crimes being committed.
