Bush Awards Medal Of Freedom To Blair, Howard, Uribe
Source: DowJones News Feed

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- Less than a week before he leaves the White House, President Bush awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to three of his closest allies - Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, former Australian Prime Minister John Howard and former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair.

At a ceremony in the East Room of the White House, Bush praised the three men for fighting terrorism and advocating democracy.
"They are the sort of guys who look you in the eye, and tell you the truth, and keep their word. In lengthy service, they prove to be leaders of character and fortitude. They are warm friends of the United States of America," Bush said.

The U.S.'s highest civil award, the Medal of Freedom was established in 1963, and is given to people who have made contributions to U.S. national security, world peace or cultural endeavors.

Bush's close, and sometimes controversial, relationship with Blair began near the start of his first term, with the prime minister an early ally in the war on terror. Bush noted Blair's steadfast support immediately after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
"He was there in a moment of trial to affirm the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom," Bush said. "And he was there to show America and all nations that he understood the stakes in the war on terror."

1. I would have thought he would have gathered the leaders of the countries
who hoted prisons? fuel stops? fly overs of the Leer jet that carried the blindfolded prisoners.

3. I hope Jack Howard enjoyed his fucking cocktail party at Blair House
It's not the inconvenience to President Obama and Michelle that's the issue. Rather, by cluttering up the Blair house he is inconveniencing Obama's young daughters, who have had to move to a new city for the first time in their lives.

The Blair House is for Americans, not Ausie neo-cons.

7. To top dog despot belongs to Colombia's Uribe.
This is like a sick joke.. Colombia has murdered like 3000 labor leaders and the governmnt does little about it.. Some evidence , originally pointed to a connection between Uribe and Colombia's death squads.. But, to bushko, that's likely progress.

5. For making so many people free
from the problems that come with being alive. Bush can give himself one too.

Then Congress can retire this award and come up with a new one.

9. I would be ashamed to get a medal for "the town idiot"....
...and if they had any sense, they would as well.

I hate to make an analogy of this one....but on the face, getting an award from a war criminal thug is hardly anything to be proud of.
