First Family Discusses Move Back to Texas (Bush says he's keeping the "ranch")
Source: KBTX

<snip>

Julie
Tell us about your home in Dallas and why you chose it?

Mrs. Bush
I found the perfect house for a couple of empty nesters and it's not as big as you saw reported in other newspapers, I think they have it confused with another house but, it'll be fun. We'll have ranch to go to on weekends, long weekends now that we're retired and we'll have the home in Dallas as we work on building at SMU the Bush Library.

Julie
Did you ever consider making the ranch you permanent residence?

Mrs. Bush
Well the ranch will be our permanent residence. It'll be considered our permanent residence, but we'll want a house in town so that we can work on the library and travel out of Dallas which will be easier to do.

Julie
How much time will you be spending in Crawford in coming years?

President Bush
I know for certain I'll be spending my first day after my presidency in Crawford - next Wednesday in Crawford. You know a fair amount of time. I anticipate spending a lot of time in Dallas close to the presidential center we're gonna build at SMU, but as much as I can. I mean I really enjoy it there and I have some great mountain biking trails and good fishing and got a lot of buddies that like to come down there.

Julie
No consideration of ever selling it?

President Bush
None. No

This could well have been a turkey-baster insemination--just so they would "fit in."

3. I bet once * retreats to the pig farm next week it will be two weeks before anything...
...is heard from him.

I bet that alot of 'self-reflection' is done.

Hopefully the skeletons in his closet pay him a visit during this time and he finds himself a very troubled man during retirement.

I certainly wish no ill-will on the man from a physical standpoint; however, I do hope that during this period he finds that he created more misery for hundreds of millions of people as ONE man than a thousand individuals could do in a lifetime.

OR...he just gets drunk and plays the radio real loud until the wee hours.

6. Jesus Christ--so this guy is just going to spend the rest of his life biking, fishing, and hunting?
Carter was only a few years younger than W when he left the presidency, and he continued to serve his country up until this very day.

And Bush is just gonna kick back and while away his "golden years?" What a schmuck.

Sadly, if there had more press coverage of what a schmuck he has always been, we probably would be tearing up on the Goodbye to President Gore.

29. The Press is the reason that we are in this collapse
The press consists of a pack of bootlickers who don't dare cross those in office for fear of being blacklisted. This is especially true of Republicans candidates. The press totally failed to tell the American people that the Bush administration was to be run by PNAC neo-cons that were intent on invading Iraq and waging war throughout the Middle East.

...he actually continue "serving" the country?

I say, GIVE him the bike, GIVE him the rod (not so sure about the gun), and pray for all you're worth that he NEVER gets bored of retirement!

27. Oh, yeah. Heck, hire a crew to keep putting MORE brush in the ground at Crawford
so he won't ever run out of brush to clear. Get him every Wii game that is out there. Make sure he gets a DVD of every new action shoot-em-up movie. Give him season tickets to any sports teams he wants. Whatever it takes.

10. Bush to work from 8,000-square-foot Dallas office
DALLAS — President George W. Bush will have an 8,000-square-foot office near his affluent Dallas neighborhood when he leaves the White House and returns to Texas.

In details released Wednesday by federal officials, the lease at a 20-story office tower in North Dallas begins this summer and is priced at more than $311,000 annually. The lease runs 10 years and is paid by the General Services Administration.

Until that office is ready, Bush will temporarily work from a 5,300-square-foot office that runs nearly $185,000 annually, the GSA said. The agency said that lease began this week.

Both offices are just a short drive from Bush's 8,500-square-foot home in the Preston Hollow area. The house carries a market value of $2.1 million ...

humongous office they like on the people's dime. It's RIDICULOUS. If they want another office, they can damn well get another job after leaving the Presidency.

I'd like to see that tradition abolished ASAP, along with the one that allows former POTUSs to get a daily intelligence briefing.

I can see the need for ongoing Secret Service protection, but that and a pension is ALL they should receive.

20. I would love it if they'd actually make use of that ranch and take in
a few rescue horses. He could hire someone who loves horsesw to take care of them, he wouldn't even have to look at them and yet could still pretend he's a cowboy. Everybody wins.

32. I'm betting Pickles is gonna live in Dallas and he's off to the ranch.
If all the rumors are true she's probably gonna stay there in town where she can play with the books at the library and NOT have to deal with him. They are keeping the ranch because that is the only place he can go hang out and vegetate without her having to look at him. He has to sleep someplace and it sure as hell would not be with me!

Inside a new fenced facility in Preston Hollow.

Actually, I'll be thinking of it as Poison Hollow.
