Biden’s Son Leaves Iraq For Inauguration
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Vice President-elect Joseph Biden Jr.’s son is back
from Iraq temporarily and will witness his father’s swearing-in.

Lt. Col. Len Gratteri, a Delaware Army National Guard spokesman, said
Capt. Beau Biden began a temporary assignment at the Pentagon on Thursday.

...

The assignment will allow Capt. Biden to use personal leave time so the
former attorney general of Delaware can witness the inauguration of his father
and President-elect Barack Obama.

After the inauguration, he is scheduled to return to Iraq, where his
unit, the Delaware National Guard 261st Signal Brigade is stationed

1. Very cool!
I am glad he is able to witness in person his father's swearing-in. I also hope he returns safely when his tour of duty has ended.

2. While I would like to say this is cool...
I will probably get blasted for this- reminds me of the Creedence Clearwater song, "Fortunate Son". How many other people in Iraq will get the day off?

3. I suspect...
...that no one will remember the threads bashing Levi Johnston for getting into an apprentice program due to political influence.

Just sayin...works both ways..

4. Your argument is pretty thin there, getting a few days off from fighting in Iraq
to watch your father accept the Vice Presidency versus getting a government job, with no qualifications other then you fucked the Governors daughter?

5. OK...
...how many men will die in Iraq in that time?? I would rather get out of there than go to a trade school.

I am NOT saying that I do not support this move - Just saying that favoritism works both ways.

By your argument, young Mr. Biden has no qualification other than his mommy fucked his daddy...

7. Did you not see this in the OP?
Personal Leave Time.

Could that be something that Beau Biden has accumulated and is entitled to claim, whether he was attending the inaguration or not?

8. Biden is not in a combat role anyways
He is in the JAG corps. I think they can survive a few days without him there. Beau (or Track Palin if God forbid McLame had one) has other pressures on him that other soilders over there don't. As the soon to be vice president's son he may have a target on his back.

6. How many other Iraq service men or women have a father who has faithfully
served the Senate as long as Biden and is the VP pick by the nation? The song 'fortunate son' was not about the son of Joe Biden or anyone like him.
