It's over: Bush staffers make exits
By DANIEL LIBIT | 1/16/09 4:38 AM EST

Bush will be the president Tuesday, but most of his employees will be gone by the close of business Friday.

They’ll turn in their BlackBerrys, laptops, building passes and gym keys.

And by the time the weekend is out — before the new administration can reverse course on waterboarding or SCHIP or anything else — teams of painters and carpet cleaners will have wiped away any hint that they ever set foot in the White House.

1. Unfortunately nothing will ever remove the stink.
The stink of failure. The stink of a million corpses. The stink of corruption and evil. Oh god, there are not enough matches in the world to burn it away.

10. Me! Me! I did! I did!
Over here! Yoo hoo!

:hi:

We must remain vigilant for the ticks that managed to burrow in, however.

Unto us a Son is given,
and the government shall be upon His shoulder

This is the Handel piece I think and dream about with #44 about to take office :D

12. Fucksticks two doors over moved a week ago. Never said a thing to anyone.
Edited on Fri Jan-16-09 01:11 PM by YOY
Rude when they were approached. They arrived in 2000 and left a week ago. Never said what they did and never even told anyone I know their last names. Young couple in their late 20s. He had a "fat Baptist Boy" look to him. In a neighborhood full of neighbors in a sometimes unfriendly anti-social city, it was weird.

Had barbecues where a bunch of similar looking people came over and played 80s music. Lots of "white fat Baptist boys". When they moved no word to anyone and a ton of expensive furniture moved out of a small home.

Word was that they were lower end Executive Branch folks.

Good fucking riddance.

17. I'm thinking just as many are going to stick around hoping for lobbying jobs...
or anything else, hoping to maintain some grasp on power. Going home with their heads (rightfully) hung in shame over how poorly they've screwed U.S. over probably isn't an option for everyone. However, I don't see much use for Republic lobbyists under current circumstances and a lot of shops are going to have to re-align their staffs if they want to work with the new Congress and Administration.

Several of my neighbors have been taking extensive vacations recently, but most here are career employees hoping to go back to doing their jobs when the BFCE leaves town. The mood is more upbeat than I've seen in years.

26. Mostly they need to sweep for "bugs".
Nothing the daddy bush boys would love more than to hear every word uttered by the Obamas, in hopes of keeping them in line.

29. Unless there are investigations and arrests
it is not "over." The ranks of the agencies are chockablock full of right-wingers, Christo-Nazis, Federalist Society Members, etc. The well has been poisoned. This is far from over. It would take a purge of Stalinist proportions to remove the Cheney-Bush influence from government -- and I don't think Obama is going to do that.
