The Times/ZAArchbishop Desmond Tutu flew to Washington DC yesterday to attend what he referred to this week as "America’s Mandela moment".
He will preach at the inaugural service of the influential Congressional Black Caucus, the organisation representing the "African American members" of the United States Congress.

"Invitations have gone out to people in their private capacity," he said, naming people including Patrice Motsepe and Zinzi Mandela. The daughter of the former president did not return messages to confirm her US visit.
Film producer Anant Singh will be in Washington to film his documentary, "Barack Obama, The People’s President".
"It is an historic moment," he said, adding that it had been a "nightmare" organising flights and train tickets for the crew because Washington was so full of people.
