FORMER Guantanamo detainee Mamdouh Habib says too many secrets will be revealed if the US closes the prison for terror suspects, where he says women and children have been held.

US President Barack Obama has ordered the closure of the Guantanamo prison within a year and banned the use of torture in terror interrogations.

"They're going to find a lot of women and young kids.

SYDNEY (Reuters) - A former Guantanamo Bay detainee, Australian Mamdouh Habib, believes the prison will never be completely closed despite U.S. President Barak Obama's decree to shut down the centre within a year.

Habib, who spent three years in Guantanamo Bay until his release without charge in January 2005, said he welcomed Obama's decree but believed there were too many secrets inside the prison for the United States to ever completely shut it down.

"If it is true I will be more than happy if they close Guantanamo Bay. I believe Guantanamo Bay will never be closed down," Habib told Reuters television in an interview on Friday.

"They can't release everything in Guantanamo Bay, everything in Guantanamo Bay is a secret," he said ...
