New photo of Fidel Castro debunks deathbed rumors

In this picture released Friday by Argentina's
Press Office, Argentine President Cristina
Fernandez poses with Fidel Castro during a
Wednesday meeting in Havana. ARGENTINA'S

A picture of the ailing Fidel Castro was released Friday for the first time in two months.

The photograph taken Wednesday of Castro standing with Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner appears to be part of a concerted effort by the Cuban government to dispel widespread rumors that the ailing former leader was on his deathbed.

No photos of him had been published since a November meeting with the president of China, and the once-prolific newspaper columnist went silent in December -- leading Cuba-watchers to believe his health had taken a turn for the worse.

But Castro met Wednesday with Fernández de Kirchner, wrote a news column Thursday and Friday, and now the Argentine government released a photograph of their meeting.

~snip~
Castro described his 40-minute meeting with Fernández as ''intense'' and ''interesting,'' as he expected.

''She is a person of profound convictions,'' he wrote. ``There were no debates.''

(You may notice President Castro is clutching President Fernandez' arm in exactly the way he clutched the arm of the Metropolitian of the Russian Orthodox Church when he visited a few months ago in a photo some fascist fool attempted to claim was photoshopped, in order to claim he actually died already. When they get indisputable photos, they move their goalposts, claiming they haven't seen any videos. You might wonder how many people who are in extremely bad health want photographers there to record their declining health. I know my mother would have gone absolutely wild if anyone had tried to do that to her during her fatal illness. She asked someone to take her photo early in the game, right after she realized she was not going to recover, told them "this is as good as I'm going to look.")

1. No no no, that's clearly a Castro-Robot. The Cubans must have perfected robotics
as part of their nefarious scheme to take over the world..... Oh and the Argentinian president is clearly in on it.

4. It's photoshopped.
Found the original. Turns out that hospital/lab in "Die Another Day" really does exist.

5. Don't spoil their fun. Little things please little minds. They still haven't
got over Franco letting them all down by ponking it, while they were trying to keep him alive at all costs.

He is just slowly failing that's all. He should make it quite awhile with the good Cuban health care though.

9. I agree. I suspect he'll make through the Obama presidency.
Not sure of how lucid he will be, he continues to use his well-exercised mind which is good, but I think he'll make it.
