Zsa Zsa Gabor lost millions due to Madoff: lawyer
Source: Reuters

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor has lost at least $7 million as a result of investments with accused financial swindler Bernard Madoff, her lawyer said on Saturday.

The losses could be as much as $10 million, lawyer Chris Fields said.

He added that Gabor, who is listed in entertainment reference sites as being 91, was not taking the damage to her nest egg well, having only discovered it in recent weeks.

The Hungarian-born actress, famed for her rich husbands and calling everyone "Darling," suffered a stroke in 2005.

Madoff, 70, is accused of running a worldwide fraud that authorities say may have cost investors $50 billion. The once-respected money manager is out on $10 million bail and living under guard in his Manhattan penthouse apartment.

okay, a 91 year old having suffered a stroke is what is determined to be "sophicated investor" by our illustrious "market experts" - this is such a freakin' joke I wish I could laugh at the stupidity

1. She should tell her hubbie The Baron to get a job
I really don't have much sympathy for her or the leech she married. He seemed to be all over the place, trying to claim parentage of Anna Nicole Smith's kid, when money was involved.

4. I'm still angry about the fact that he isn't sitting in a jail cell.
The "living under guard" is probably more to protect him from his former investors rather than to prevent him from getting on a plane and flying to a country we have no extradition treaty with.

5. That is so ironic....
if memory serves, her main function was serial marriages to rich men.
All that work for nothing.

7. I'm guessing she didn't do the investing.
Someone 'managing' her accounts 'invested' it for her.

8. And such an investment manager ought to be shot.
As elderly retired people, Ms. Gabor should have been completely out of all risky investments and only in CDs and T-bills with short maturity periods. That, and as many FDIC accounts at different banks as possible.

No need to be suckered in to Mr. Madoff's schemes.

I heard Joan Rivers say that many Hollywood celebs lost their fortunes with Bernie. She said there are a lot of very depressed people in show biz these days.
