BY JOSEPH MORTON

WASHINGTON - Chuck Hagel is set to enter a new arena - the classroom.

The former U.S. senator from Nebraska will become a distinguished professor at Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in Washington. The university plans a formal announcement Wednesday.

Hagel, 62, said he will start in right away, conducting seminars and delivering lectures to graduate students and undergraduates. He will begin teaching his own class on foreign relations this fall.

Hagel said he will teach only one class per semester, which will allow him to take advantage of other opportunities in the private sector.

1. I wish he'd taken a policy job with Team Obama, he is very balanced wrt Israel/Palestine/the Mideast
Probably more balanced than any of the Dem senators Obama brought on to his team.

but whatever he goes on to do now, I wish him lots of success in it!

5. I don't think he can lobby for at least 2 years.
It use to be one, but changed to 2 in 2008. I remember that being the reason why Trent Lott quit the Senate before the rule change.

7. Why don't these dweebs GO HOME and "enrich" the home turf?
Our state university town was small, an oasis of culture, and quaint in the mid to late '60s. Then the hippies from wherever started STAYING there after they graduated, and then others who didn't graduate or even weren't enrolled started relocating and staying there, and now the place is a megametropolis bloated with the urban blight that can be found anywhere, with just a few place names to remind of the long gone distinguishing characteristics.

When I graduated and stayed on a few months I realized something and announced my decision to go back where I came from. My friends said, "YOU CAN'T GO BACK THERE!1" I said, "You're supposed to study and then LEAVE, either back where you came from or somewhere else."
