Connecticut attorney general mulls run against Lieberman
Source: The Hill

Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who announced Monday he will seek a sixth term, is considering a challenge against Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) in 2012.

Multiple Connecticut Democrats, speaking on condition of anonymity, say Blumenthal has begun informing influential members of the state’s political class that he will prepare for a run against Lieberman.

In an interview with The Hill, Blumenthal said he was focused on his current job.

“My only focus and my sole interest right now is on the race in 2010 and seeking reelection as attorney general,” he said.

Still, serving in the Senate “would be an honor, and it’s always been a career goal,” Blumenthal added. “I’ve said that I look forward to continuing opportunities for public service in the future.”

5. A "Blumenthal for Senate" sticker with a small "paid for by Connecticut for Lieberman" tagline
would be fun

:D

8. I am all for a Democrat winning Connecticut away from LIEberman, but I'd
like to see a different Democrat. For one thing, Blumenthal will be a few weeks short of 66 years old when LIEberman's term ends. For another, Blumenthal appears to be against gay marriage. Although his education credentials are excellent and I like certain things about him, he is, overall, a mixed bag.

I hope Connecticut has another Democrat in store. But, whoever the Democratic candidate for LIEberman's seat may ultimately turn out to be,

LET'S TINKLENBERGER HIM OR HER!

9. If Democrats in CT could be solid front
they could replace Joe. But as it is now unless Lieberman is caught bending an intern over the desk a minority of Dems' combined with the Repub voters are going to make it damn hard to boot him out. One can always have hope though..

11. A lot of the people that voted for him last time
have buyers remorse. As do some of the papers that endorsed him. It's not the love fest it used to be. I think that any half way decent candidate will make him vulnerable. The fact that he had his head up McCain's ass and trashed Obama during the campaign did not help him at all. There are not enough Republicans here to decide an election. He would have to have a lot of Independent support and I don't see that.

12. After LIEberman campaigned for McPain Phalin and trashed Obama, I cannot
see a self-respecting Connecticut Democrat voting for him again.

13. The Republicans Voted for Lieberman...
It wasn't the CT Democrats that put Lieberman in power. It was the Republicans. CT Republicans voted almost 70% in favor of Lieberman.
