Goldman, JPMorgan Won’t Feel Effects of Executive-Salary Caps
Source: Bloomberg

Feb. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Executives at Goldman Sachs Group Inc., JPMorgan Chase & Co. and hundreds of financial institutions receiving federal aid aren’t likely to be affected by pay restrictions announced yesterday by President Barack Obama.

The rules, created in response to growing public anger about the record bonuses the financial industry doled out last year, will apply only to top executives at companies that need “exceptional” assistance in the future.

Notice how Obama is using theatrics rather than actual substance? Who does this remind us of? BushCo.

1. People who were paying attention knew this already before Obama announced it.

2. He can't do it on money Paulson already gave out
they can only doing it going forward.

If JP Morgan comes back for money they will have to comply. Thats why their CEO was crying like a baby yesterday.

So stop the nonsense

7. More than likely he was laughing...
JPMorganChaseWAMUWhateverBankTheyGobbleUpNext is not in danger of collapsing. More than likely it just saw an opportunity and grabbed it. The way several others did.

It is a vulture sitting around looking for new banks to gobble up. The way several others are.

Our economic system is collapsing. Theirs is not.

9. What gives you that idea?

Courts in equity do it all the time- and have for hundreds of years

That's where the concept of disgorgement comes from.

15. Really?
Ever hear of FISA...retroactive immunity Hummmmmmm?
Ex Post Facto laws retroactively change the legal consequences of acts NOT THE MONETARY consequences.
There are retirees all over who have had their pensions reduced or eliminated "retroactively".
If the congress can GIVE retroactive immunity to the telecom companies why can't they retroactively TAKE the bonuses away form the robber barons on wall street?
Congress can tell them that taxpayer monies cannot be used for personal profit and that they must pay the taxpayer back BEFORE they reward themselves.

8. Yes, I am sure you would say that....
I have yet to see a post from you that doesn't have a very negative tone regarding President Obama so this post is not at all surprising, sadly.

12. So taking the Constitution seriously means one needs to be negative about any and all things the...
Obama Administration has done? Has this Administration done anything you find acceptable? If so, please iterate what, it would be helpful and provide more of a balance to your posts which I find, so far, to be less focused on the Constitution and more on sliming the current Administration at every opportunity.

13. I deal with facts as I see them. If you have a problem place me on ignore. I am not intimidated.
by emotion-based attacks. I am not required as a citizen or a poster to meet your personal standards of balance. I do not judge your posts for balance or choice of focus . I post here to discuss not judge other posters.

Responding to you request that I be helpful however: What has Obama done that I approve of?-signed the Equal Pay protection act passed by Congress. Overturned some Bush executive orders. Initiated the plan to close prison at Guantanamo within a year.

14. Great! He did all this in less than 15 days, pretty impressive, imo!
Thank you for responding to my request. No, no one is required to meet anyone's "personal standards" at all, you are, as am I, merely anonymous posters on a forum but, because one can only "judge" another by reading their posts, it is fair, imo, to ask questions of other posters in case one has "judged" unfairly. No poster has to respond at all to any questions, I appreciate that you chose to respond.
