Nashville SceneNashville doctors Visuvalingham Vilvarajah and Mireille Lalanne have been charged with selling prescription pain meds that ended up being sold in Kentucky. "Patients" were apparently able to pay for the office visit out of their pockets, letting TennCare pick up the tab for the drugs. But there appears to be more to the story than that.
If you've ever wondered about the history of the guy in the white coat, examining you over the rims of his glasses (or something like that), Dr. Vilvarajah certainly gives you cause. Turns out he pleaded guilty in 1988 to two charges of second degree murder of his wife and mother-in-law.
Vilvarajah was sentenced to 20 years and paroled in five. For some reason the medical board gave him his license back.
