Kerry, Edwards both top Bush in poll
Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 12:31 PM by Marianne
Democratic presidential hopefuls John Edwards and John Kerry both hold leads of 10 percentage points or more in hypothetical match-ups against President Bush, according to a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Wednesday.

The survey marks the first time Edwards, a U.S. senator from North Carolina, has topped Bush in a one-on-one poll of likely voters if the election were held today.

In a head-to-head contest, 55 percent said they would choose Kerry for president over Bush, who drew the support of 43 percent. Edwards led the president 54 percent to 44 percent.

1. Yeah, but this is Gallup
In the final weeks of the 2000 campaign, Gallup would have their poll swing from a Bush 10-pt lead to a Gore 10-pt lead and back to a Bush 10-pt lead before returning to a tie, all in the span of two weeks or so.

I don't think any other polls recorded any such huge swings.

Keep this in mind before we get too excited.

Still, it's nice to see. :-)
