At the United Nations (news - web sites), Secretary-General Kofi Annan (news - web sites) backed the U.S. position against holding elections before the June 30 transfer of power to Iraqis. He also said the June 30 date for the U.S.-led coalition to restore sovereignty to Iraq (news - web sites) must be respected.

Bremer pointed out during his press conference that there were "dozens" of methods for selecting a new government. Annan made no recommendation on how to form such a transitional government.

"Changes are possible but the date holds," Bremer told reporters. Among the options, he said, were a redesigned "caucus" system or partial elections.

"There are literally dozens of ways to carry out this complicated task," he said. "I invite your attention to how complicated it is

Idiot in chief wants to be able to say well we have handed over power to the Iraqies and we are moving as quickly as possible to remove US from Iraq. This will be a big lie in the campaign and the June 30th deadline is essetial even though it will be a big lie because the US will still be running the country no matter who we say are running the country.
