Rove lawyer out of office until deposition date

House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers, Jr. D-MI) has subpoenaed Karl Rove a third time, asking him to appear Monday, Feb. 23 for a deposition to testify about his knowledge about the US Attorney firings and the alleged political prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman.

"Pursuant to my letter to you of Jan. 29, 2009, and your agreement to accept service on behalf of Karl Rove, I am enclosing a subpoena for Mr. Rove to appear and provide testimony by deposition on Feb. 23, 2009, at 10:00am in room 2138 of the Rayburn House Office Building," Conyers wrote Robert Luskin, Rove's D.C. Attorney.

An email message to Luskin from Raw Story was returned with an auto-reply.

"I will be out of the office and unable to check emails or voicemails until February 23, 2009," the reply said. "If you need immediate assistance, please contact my assistant."

2. Poor Karl. How long can he survive such merciless subpoenaing?
Has Conyers no mercy? Rove must be writhing in pain and shock and shame from all the punishment the Pink Tutu democrats are inflicting on him.

Poor Karl.

3. Send the Capitol Police to arrest him. Now.
I hear the holding cell in the base of the U.S. Capitol has no amenities. Either put him there or in the D.C. jailhouse.

Come on, Congressman. Power to the People.

If it was someone like me or you that had been served a subpoena by anyone - we'd have been picked up by officers by now!

7. I agree.
This is nothing more than a speck of dust on Rove's sleeve. He'll brush it off and move on. None of these hoodlums will ever testify, be convicted or face jail time. It isn't the banks that's bringing this country down; it's the lawlessness.

11. The Government of the United States is more dysfunctional than a madhouse!
It is obviously just a ruse, a front, for hidden agendas, and a con job to keep
the slaves from knowing they've been sold and their children have been sold into bondage,
so the few elites can wine and dine and golf.

15. Nothing but overtures
meant to appease the leftwing base (you and I). Rove will never come forward, or he will fight it and drag it out with a team of lawyers until the Repukes can steal another election. The same goes for the Presidents wishy washy answer about if he supports Leahy's efforts to go after the Bushie criminals. The pat answer: IF there has been crimes committed fine, but I am looking forward not backwards. Leahy for his part is the one chosen to be the front man for a faux investigation. His conclusion will be that there was no technical illegality, even if there were ethical breaches, or that there is just not enough evidence to proceed. Then the President will echo that conclusion and say that now is the time to forgive and forget.

Sorry I'm so cynical, but we have to brace ourselves for reality.

16. Why should ANYONE comply with a congressional subpoena?
WHY?

Let's face it: congress has effectively forfeited their subpoena power. Too bad. It could have been a useful tool.

17. The Republicans can crap in the face of the Democrats all they want and still the Dems just take it.
Even NOW that they have the reigns of power in their hands.

When will Conyers show at least a LITTLE bit of spine?

Never, I guess.
