The U.S.S. John F. Kennedy is back at sea doing training exercises. Navy officials say this training will get sailors ready for the president's call.
The Kennedy, six other ships and a submarine will be out to sea for about a month. In all, 7,500 sailors will be conducting naval surface fire support training and air to ground bombing practices. The government no longer uses Vieques as training ground for bombing practices. So, the Navy is using existing training resources like ranges in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.
The Navy says this training is getting the aircraft carrier ready to participate in the War on Terrorism. The Kennedy is expected to be deployed this summer.
