CBS News Pick Claimed Democrats are Bad People
Edited on Mon Feb-23-09 05:33 PM by margotb822
Source: HuffPo

Today, I learned that CBS News named Jeff Ballabon, a New York Republican activist, to serve as the Senior Vice President of Communications.

What is CBS thinking? This guy is very far out there with his partisan rhetoric.

A decade ago, I debated Ballabon in New York. I represented the Democratic Jewish community while he spoke on behalf of Republican Jews. During the debate, Ballabon claimed that, after his most recent job in Washington, he became convinced that Democrats are inherently bad people and Republicans are fundamentally good people.

What planet does this guy come from? It's astonishing that CBS News would name Ballabon to its senior management.

Where is the outrage???

If a Democratic activist had been picked to lead a news organization, there would be shrieks of "liberal media conspiracy," but...silence.

This is a sick world...

1. We are only taught to be outraged against our own.
Then we take action.

Anything else, we don't give a shit.......

Personally, I think we should be giving CBS a piece of our minds on this.

13. I think that makes it worse
"The Forward labeled Ballabon one of the "50 Most Influential Jews in America," called him "the architect of Bush's 2004 re-election effort in the Orthodox community."

Ballabon is a key point of contact for the Jewish community with Christian leaders, as well. "If you're looking for a New Yorker with deep ties to the Christian right - you know, the folks running America - Mr. Ballabon is your man," wrote The New York Observer.

As a fundraiser for the 2004 Bush campaign, he co-chaired a dinner which "raked in $4 million." (Village Voice)"

Yes, definitely worse...

20. Here's my email -
"Please assure Mr. Ballabon that there will be at least one less bad person watching CBS from now on. This democrat will adjust to life without CBS.

For the record, I think that Mr. Ballabon is an arrogant twit who has no business being an executive for any business, much less SVP of Communications at a major television network."

It bothers me when they don't even try and hide their bias - that darned "liberal" media!

24. hit them where it hurts
boycott their advertisers and send *them* letters and emails explaining why.

The boycott and general outrage worked when dollar tree tried to deny death benefits after a worker was murdered at their store while on duty. I know I wrote to them and got an email from them when they changed their minds. A boycott can work here too.

Heh!heh! just another reason I can't be bothered to get a converter box. Fuck'em.

31. Best to Just Not Tune in to CBS.
I stopped watching the CBS News when they put Katie Curic in the anchor seat. I never liked her at NBC and as so-called news journalist, just makes me want to puke. I remember her fawning over Bush Sr at a tour of the White House she did once. She is such a phoney and now the whole network is showing its colors. 60 minutes is not what it use to be and so I have little reason to ever watch it. I can't think of a single show that I watch even on rare occasion that is on CBS. How they've treated Dan Rather is call people need to see to understand how the corporate dogs operate. To hell with them. I get most of my news from the net anyway and most of my media entertainment. The networks are dinosaurs with a very short remaining lifespan.

32. They've been on a self-destructive trajectory for a long while.
Ever since they hired Katie "Navy Seals Rock" Couric for an obscene sum to read the frigging news, it's almost as if they want to just shitcan the news division and put all their dough into their entertainment arms. Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather at least went out in the field and did a little reporting every so often....it's just a joke, now. A real shame that Couric, one of the few women on the front lines in that biz, had to be the one who held the stake while the suits hammered it into the heart of Edward R. Murrow's baby.

This is just one more nail in their coffin. Could it be deliberate?

34. CBS has an agenda
First they crucified Dan Rather for daring to tell the truth about Bush's military record, then they hired the pathetically inept Katie Couric. Her 'interview' with John and Elizabeth Edwards, soon after Elizabeth learned that her cancer had returned, was one of the most heartless spectacles I've ever seen. It was cruel and totally over the top. Hundreds of viewers posted negative comments on the CBS website calling her out on her abrasive, hateful manner.

Now, we learn that CBS has hired a Republican activist as senior VP of communications. They aren't even attempting to hide their right wing leanings. They will be hearing from me - again.

35. Well talking about TV
I am watching AMC, American Movie Classics.

They are playing a movie, "R is for Republican" It is a documentary about Republicans in Hollywood and how they are a minority that get treated badly.

I don't know if this has anything to do with new guy at CBS, or even if CBS and AMC are even part of same company, but this is ridiculous. (they are even showing red dawn clips in the film)

Pathetic for a movie classic channel.

41. What'd you expect?
After all, they picked Katie to be a network NEWS anchor. Job requirements and applicant experience have no correlation at CBS anymore. That died when Rather was forced to leave. They are now part of the meganetworkmediaconglomerate, which ONLY listens to the owners, who are 90% Repugnican.
