Palin bill seeks $461 million in stimulus projects
Source: Anchorage Daily News

Gov. Sarah Palin submitted a spending bill to lawmakers on Tuesday asking that they authorize $461 million from the federal stimulus package for infrastructure projects in Alaska.

Palin's supplemental bill is asking for more than $285 million over what the state expects to receive in transportation projects from the stimulus bill.

The state, instead, expects about $175 million. But state transportation officials earlier this week told lawmakers that the administration would be requesting additional spending authorization in case Alaska receives money that was destined for other states that failed to meet the 'use it or lose it' deadline.

Fifty percent of the money must be pledged to specific projects within 120 days.

Palin's bill would provide funds for aviation, transit, highway and bridge projects under the law President Barack Obama signed a week ago.

2. Alaska spending
I'm not sure what to say here.... Are you complaining that she's taking part in the package that's being proposed? I guess, if I were here, I'd totally take advantage of "free" money, if we're going to be taxed anyway to pay for it, we might as well take advantage of it.... Of course, that'll just mean that we'll get another 1 trillion stimulus package in a few years, but we won't be able to afford it. Somebody has to pay for it, and I doubt it'll be rich celebrities, nope, it'll be rich you and I, yes, you know who I'm talking about, those of us making a whopping $40,000 a year..... Us rich folks.

in this case and refusing the funds. But it is amusing for Mrs. "I said Thanks but No Thanks." Oh and she said Obama should've vetoed it.

Sarah Palin was on Fox News ’s On The Record With Greta Van Susteren, where she voiced her opposition to the Obama stimulus bill because Congress didn’t know what was in it, and it would add people to the rolls. The problem is that no one, including Gov. Palin seems to know what she is talking about.

Palin said, “I wish he would veto it and send it back until our lawmakers can read it and know what’s in it. I think I speak for a lot of Alaskans who say also understanding that the impacts on individual states that this stimulus package has, they are unknown impacts. So until our guy and our gals in Congress can read it and understand what the impacts are, I don’t want to see it signed.”

25. $40,000.00 is a very rich wage ...
In the midwest or the south ....

It is on par with many middle wage jobs even on the east and west coasts ...

So ... Consider yourself well to do by many respects ..

The point being made here is this: Caribou Barbie AKA Sarah Palin talked alot of trash this last campaign ...

ALOT of trash talking from that pretty mouth ...

Yet: Much of that talk was pure unadulterated LIE ...

This submittal cements the fact that Sarah Palin is a hypocritical liar ...

That is all .... Carry on ....

the Gov't. was giving free stuff..
Under NO circumstances nor loyalty to the GOP would keep good old Palin from grabbing a handout the size of this one.

24. More prosaic purposes, actually
Alaska's so big you need an airplane to get around easily, and many Alaskans have them. According to http://www.ihs.gov/medicalprograms/injuryprevention/documents/jsmith.pdf, there are over 9000 general aviation aircraft and over 10,000 licensed pilots in Alaska--one of 54 Alaskans is a pilot and one of 60 Alaskans owns a plane. According to http://sled.alaska.edu/akfaq/aksuper.html, the numbers are a little different but close--and they also point out that the average Alaskan pilot flies over twice as much as the average nationwide. So...aviation projects are very important there.

It's also interesting to note that Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage has been the third-busiest cargo airport in the world since 2004, and it was fourth before that.
