U.S. says Canada the top source for ecstasy
Source: THE CANADIAN PRESS

WASHINGTON – The U.S. State Department says Canada should do more to curb the production and trade in ecstasy and other illicit drugs.

The 2009 International Narcotics Control Strategy Report, released Friday, highlights the growth of methamphetamine ``superlabs" throughout the country, particularly in British Columbia and Ontario.

The State Department also cast a critical eye on harm-reduction programs across Canada, such as a controversial supervised injection site in Vancouver.

It pointed to a 2007 report of the United Nations International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), which said a Vancouver Island "safe crack kit" program violated the UN Drug Convention.

3. Well
It didn't say that they were producing more than US labs. It said that they were the biggest source south of the border.

Happens to go hand in hand with our present government in Ottawa. I almost think that BC has been taken over by the DEA.

9. yes..but due to both being illegal, sometimes they are mixed and sold as pure mdma
or E..Of course, E is also cut with a wide range of substances from baking soda to Ketamine, which accounts for the "bad" or trippy e clubbers buy.

In Holland they have E-testing booths at all clubs, because their society doesn`t want their kids dying of crap product. In America, the authorities don`t care.Of course we have our current Vice President to thank for the RAVE Act, I find it interesting it was passed with 100% Reslug sponsors, I wonder if Obama will make good on his promise to read this piece of anti-constitutional legislation. Hell, with the way society is going, the administration could do worse than look at legalising E, apart from the huge revenues it would bring, it would also reinvigorate the dying club scene, bring people to the USA and probably save a few lives as well.

As Bill Hicks once said "This isn`t a war on drugs, its a war on some drugs".

18. I remember (barely ;) when I was in my late teens, early 20's
I took a drug called MDA, which I think is a sister drug to MDMA. They called it the love drug, and boy was it! The awesome rushes coupled with a feeling of incredible love for all people and life itself. Man, I would give anything to try that again (although I'm not sure my heart could take it anymore.

Favorite drugs of my past that I can't get anymore:

MDA
Quaalude's
Mescaline
barbiturates (reds, yellows, christmas trees, etc.)

FOR MEDICINAL PURPOSES ONLY

16. not by much
real 'ecstasy' is 3,4, methyl-dioxymethamphetamine. There's a carbon-oxygen-carbon "bridge" attached to carbon 3 and carbon 4 of methamphetamine's benzene ring. It's basically a hybrid between mescaline and methamphetamine. It was developed and used by psychiatrists in the US, and used in low doses for marriage counseling among other things. Sold over the counter in head-shops for most of the 1970's started getting really popular in the early 1980's and then it and all precursors were banned. It's the reason you can't get real root beer any more. Then the kitchen chemistry started. You see, it has six isomers, five of which are extreamly neuro-toxic. By the late eighties, society and medicine started to see some real damage from the by-products and impurities.

11. well, glow sticks are a bit passe, however, there is some phenomenal music being made in the USA
Edited on Fri Feb-27-09 10:20 PM by percussivemadness
check www.myspace.com/psychedelicdancemusic , this is the guy behind the We Will Not Be Silenced movies, he`s a Brit that became a US citizen a few years ago, he has drawn on his experiences over here to create this new genre, and it is blowing up everywhere. Unfortunately, because of the RAVE act, this type of music doesn`t get much exposure over here, but its definately influenced by American culture.

Remember, drugs shouldn`t be used to make bad music good, if used at all, they should be done to make great music better. However, if the music is good enough, and the DJ is good enough, drugs become relatively unimportant, this is a lesson the European scene learned many years ago, which is why it thrives, sadly, in the USA, RAVE culture was always about the drugs, which resulted in sub standard djs and a poor final product, which is why the scene is non-existant over here now.

Things however are changing, thank to the sterling efforts of the above DJ and a few others :)

No fair picking on an old raver, though. :) When I was your age we had to wait four hours in the rain to get into the warehouse...uphill...both ways!

Then again, there's nooooooooo shortage of kickin' tunes being made right here in the SF Bay Area. Same as it ever was.

17. Re the "controversial supervised injection site"; BULLSHIT.
The only idiots who have "controversial" about it are the idiotic rightwingnuts who -as always- don't have the first clue of what they're talking about. Nor do they -as always- have the slightest bit of common fucking sense.

23. And Iraq has WMD. It's hard not to see this as another attempt at false branding...
...in order to justify policy (i.e. tightening up the border with Canada, patrolling it with unmanned aircraft, pressuring Canada to spend more to stroke the paranoia of people who want to turn the US into a fortress, etc...)
