Police cite breast-feeding driver for endangering
Source: Detroit Free Press

KETTERING, Ohio— Police in Ohio say a woman has been charged with child endangering after another motorist reported she was both breast-feeding a youngster and talking on a phone while driving.

Police in the Dayton suburb of Kettering say the caller told them he saw the woman Thursday.

Officer Michael Burke says authorities used a license plate number to track down 39-year-old Genine Compton.

He said the woman told officers she was breast-feeding and wouldn't let her child go hungry. . .

What, she wasn't doing a crossword puzzle, too?

Some people just can't multitask.

1. Some people were asleep in driver's training class and missed
the pull over and park concept.

2. And some people are dumber than manure.
This is profoundly stupid.

3. Oh don't insult manure. At least it's useful.
Stupid would be the kindest word I'd use.

You'd be surprised (or maybe not) how many people think they keep the kid or the dog from going into the steering wheel even at 5mph. Of course, the law of mass increases with velocity sails right over their heads.

9. I'd be much more worried about the airbag that all modern cars have.

4. Breast feeding AND talking on the phone.
What was she using to drive the car with?

What happened to pulling over and stopping?

6. But was she watching a movie with her stereo turned up high?
Stupidity. I'm all for breast feeding. I'm all for people having their cell phones. I'm NOT for driving while doing either. Idiots. A nation of morons.

7. She wouldn't let her child go hungry, but she was cool about threatening
his or her life like that?

Some people have gotten just way too comfortable thinking of their cars as their living room.

Why not just pull over, and feed the baby if that was such a priority? (And I note it couldn't have been such a huge priority if she was busy yapping on the phone at the time).

8. I pulled over and stopped so my daughter could feed her baby and change it. And I was driving.

11. The breast feeding is out of bounds due to the airbag...
That said some people are able to drive and talk on a cell phone at the same time.

I still think those bans are muy el stupido.

12. This woman was dumb-f stupid enough to think that it was OK for the child not to be in a car seat
because if there was an accident, the airbag would deploy and PROTECT BOTH HER AND THE BABY.

She obviously never heard about the basic facts of kids and airbags. She thought it more dangerous to allow her child to go unfed at its normal feeding time than to multitask behind the wheel.

15. I've heard of multi-tasking, but that's ridiculous.
She was in such a hurry she couldn't pull over first?

16. Congratulations. I have found a situation where I think breastfeeding is inappropriate.
She should have pulled over to a parking lot. First and foremost, if the car is moving, that baby should be in a properly installed car seat.
