Shanna Moakler Slams Miss California with NO H8 Campaign
Source: softpedia

The campaign is, according to Us Magazine, aimed at slamming Proposition 8 and eliminating discrimination on the grounds of orientation, which is precisely what Prejean did on the Miss USA finale, it is being said. Because Moakler has already spoken her mind about Miss California’s answer regarding marriage, it is believed the campaign is her way of showing the younger beauty queen just how wrong she was when she said that only a man and a woman should be free to legally wed. The fact that two other former California beauty queens are also featured in the new ads only comes to reinforce this.

The shots feature Moakler surrounded by beauty queens, with tape on their mouth and the words NO H8 (No Hate) scribbled on their cheeks in bright colors. The American flag can be seen in the background, while the girls, although not in their pageant attires, are wearing their tiaras proudly. And posing is not all Moakler does, as she’s also more than willing to speak to the media about her involvement in the latest campaign and about how it’s supposed to at least educate the public about current legislation.

“I believe Prop 8 lead a campaign of confusion and never made clear what was being asked of the people.” Moakler says for the mag. “I find most people have a problem with the word marriage. What I hope for is helping others understand ‘civil union’ and then one day helping people learn ‘marriage’ is something not God, not the state or country can solidify, but between two people who love each other.” the former beauty queen further explains.

Her and the other girls’ involvement has been nothing short of a surprise, and a very pleasant one while we’re at it. “We never expected to have so many beauty queens participate. The whole campaign, obviously, is not a direct message to Miss California, but now she happened to have put herself in the line of fire. If Carrie is going to go out there with her message, then we have to go out there and make sure the voices of these girls are heard. And that they are what Miss USA should stand for, too.” Adam Bouska of NO H8 tells the media.

2. Why hasn't Prejean's title been taken
and given to the next in line to represent CA? Isn't there some kind of clause which says they are supposed to stay away from unnecessary controversy?

3. That may not apply when it's the judges who introduce the controversy
She should have just given some rambling nonsensical answer like most of the other contestants do. That is the real affront here--beauty queens aren't supposed to think that deeply.

6. Yeah, but she chose to go on her little tour of hate.
But I bet they don't want to strip her title because the fundies would freak out. They want her to step down on her own.

5. Fake Boobs
The Miss CA people bought her fake boobs, so I doubt they'll do anything to her. Loss of revenue.

Miss California's Fake Boobs Exposed1 May 2009 12:55 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

The beauty queen at the centre of a same sex marriage fuss in America has been exposed as a fake - Miss California pageant bosses paid for her breast augmentation.

Pretty Carrie Prejean hit headlines around the world last month when she spoke out against gay marriage onstage at the Miss USA pageant - and she has since been defending her right to voice an opinion.

And, after weeks of speculation, Miss USA California co-executive director Shanna Moakler - a former Miss America - has admitted she was among pageant bosses who agreed to help Prejean get a boob job.

Speaking to U.S. news show Access Hollywood on Thursday, Moakler said, "It was something that we all spoke about together and she wanted it and we supported that decision."

Asked if the pageant bosses paid for the surgery, Moakler said, "Yes, we did... Breast implants in pageants today is not a rarity... It's very common."

I'm glad Ms Moakler sees our side of the story but personally I think NONE of them are a good spokesperson when it comes to equality anywhere in this country.

7. So no longer are beauty pageants about someone's NATURAL
attractiveness, body dimensions, and talents. It's all FAKE!!!

Why did I think it was otherwise?

8. Gosh, what a role model for little girls . . .
Edited on Fri May-01-09 09:15 AM by DollyM
I find it disturbing that Miss California feels that being surgically enhanced sends a good message to our little girls. That alone would turn me off on her winning. (So it's okay to have fake boobs but not okay to give a politically correct (fake) answer in order to win the crown? It sounds like the correct person won after all!)

9. It's bad enough that the contestant got the fake boobs - but in this case...
Edited on Fri May-01-09 09:20 AM by LynneSin
Ms. Moakler and the California Pagent officials helped buy them for her.
