Alberta hogs have flu virus

OTTAWA – A flu virus has infected some pigs in Alberta, federal officials confirmed today.

The herd affected has been placed under quarantine, said Dr. Brian Evans, an official with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

It's common to see influenza in pigs and human transmission to pigs is known to occur, Evans said.

Herman Simons, a spokesman for Alberta Pork, a producer's group, said the main worry is the possible effect of the discovery on exports.

2. We're also giving MRSA to elephants , one has died from it.
Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aurea's killed more Americans last year than AIDS. Greedy health care systems and insurance companies are making a killing, killing us. Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Emergency Rooms are breeding grounds for MRSA, I would be more concerned about hospital acquired infection being in our homes, schools, businesses, restaurants, churches than just the flu. http://www.wisecountyissues.com/?p=62 It's amazing what they are patting themselves on the back about and advertise as 'quality health care' in comparison to public record in Greeneville, TN Federal Court. It took a local health care provider and their lawyers 3 years to disprove, desparage and trash their own advertising ! case no 2:04-cv-375 There, you will really see what is deemed, defended and supported as "THE ACCEPTABLE STANDARDS OF HEALTH CARE IN EAST TENNESSEE".

3. Canada farm worker 'infects pigs'
Source: BBC News

A herd of pigs in Canada has tested positive for swine flu, apparently after being infected by a farm worker recently returned from Mexico.

The herd, in the western province of Alberta, has been quarantined.

Officials said there was no risk of contracting the illness by consuming pork, and chances of a human getting infected by a pig were remote.

>

Both the man and the pigs were recovering, he added, saying that the virus did not seem to have spread beyond the farm.
