MIAMI -- Family members of a Miami man who has been missing in Mexico for months are getting some help in their search for him.
Relatives of Felix Batista met Friday with Sen. Bill Nelson and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who are getting involved in demanding that the Mexican government step up and cooperate in the search.
Batista, a specialist in working for hostage releases, was in Mexico working as a hostage negotiator. In December, Batista was in a meeting when he received a phone call. Batista turned over his cell phone, computer and personal belongings to the people for whom he was working, then he apparently went to meet the hostage taker.
The hostage was eventually released, but Batista was never seen again.
Mexican officials have not given much information to the U.S. government. Nelson met with Batista's wife, Lourdes Batista, to assure her he will put pressure on the Mexican government to get involved.
"If we don't see some cooperation from them, I will blast them on the floor of the Senate until kingdom come, and they don't like that kind of attention," Nelson said.
