Phil Spector gets 19 years to life for murder
Source: Reuters

<snip>

"Eccentric music producer Phil Spector was given a sentence of 19 years to life in prison on Friday for the murder of a Hollywood actress in 2003.

Spector, 69, who revolutionized pop music in the 1960s with his layered "Wall of Sound" production technique, was convicted in April of second-degree murder by a Los Angeles jury after a second trial. Lana Clarkson, 40, died of a shot to the mouth, fired from Spector's gun in the foyer of his home outside Los Angeles on February 3, 2003."

4. Sucker finally made good on his threats.
According to his ex, he was a controlling,
threatening, scary as fuck individual.

Guess she wasn't kidding.

11. She is STRONG to have survived his madness.
She seems to have come out the other
end as a happy, fulfilled person.

I love her, too.

14. He apparently had a see-through glass coffin built and installed in their basement
And told Ronnie that was where she would end up if she ever dared try to leave him.

9. Claude Hooper Bukowski...
Manchester England England

Across the Atlantic Sea

And I'm a genius genius

I believe in God

And I believe that God

Believes in Claude

That's me that's me

Claude Hooper Bukowski

Finds that it's groovy

To hide in a movie

Pretends he's Fellini

And Antonioni

And also his countryman Roman Polanski

All rolled into one

One Claude Hooper Bukowski

Now that I've dropped out

Why is life dreary dreary?

Answer my weary query

Timothy Leary dearie!

Sorry... I was in a production of Hair in the 80's, and ever since then, I have to sing that little ditty whenever I hear any of those names:)

10. "it's too late" - jim caroll band
It's too late
To fall in love with Sharon Tate
But it's too soon
To ask me for the words I want carved on my tomb

I think it's time that you all start
To think about gettin' by
But I have that need to go out and find somebody to love

It's too late
There's no one left that I even wanna imitate
You see, you just don't know
I'm here to give you my heart
And you want some fashion show

But it ain't no contribution
To rely on an institution
To validate your chosen art
And to sanction your boredom
And let you play out your part

It's too late
You know when they got nothin' to give
They only part their legs for what's negative
They're so decadent . . .
Until their daddy's money from home's all spent

So I think it's time, because it's too easy
To rely on worshipping devils and strangers in bed,
Though they do get good drugs, and they do give good head

It's too late
You shoulda realized I was worth the wait
Ah, but you didn't hesitate
When he took you off, you let him seal our fate

So I think it's time
that you all start
To think about gettin' by
Without that need to go out and find
Somebody to love

6. I heard rumors for years about him pulling a gun on people...
The story told by Joey Ramone is particularly memorable.

23. He also allegedly pulled guns on Leonard Cohen and Stevie Wonder...
not to say that can't be an effective production technique, but doubling up vocals or sweetening with strings is generally safer

7. He should have got life or D/P
My guess 5 years will be all he serves. I think even OJ got a stiffer sentence than him for robbery & kidnapping. Although he too did murder 2 people. Karma. I hope they both have miserable lives in jail and die there. Who do these clowns think they are, Robert Blake. LOL!

16. Apparently he wasn't rich enough or famous enough...
It's nice to know there are some limitations on what 'They' can get away with.

19. Thank You
Many thanks for posting this.

I had wondered what was happening in this case.

The defense allegation that Clarkson had committed suicide in Spector's home(and presence) was an insult to anyone's intelligence.
