Texan gets 45 years for spreading HIV

McKINNEY, Texas — An ex-convict turned suburban martial arts instructor was sentenced Friday to 45 years in prison for knowingly infecting several women with the virus that causes AIDS.

Philippe Padieu, 53, was convicted this week of six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon — his bodily fluids. Jurors deliberated about two hours before deciding on the 45-year sentence for five counts and 25 years for one — all to be served concurrently.

"He's a self-centered narcissist who doesn't care about anyone but himself and he will continue to hurt people," prosecutor Lisa King told jurors before the sentencing, noting that Padieu continued having unprotected sex after doctors told him not to.

"He gave them a death sentence; he deserves a life sentence," King said...

I do not see how one can conclude that the issue was "modern women have problems finding love". To me the issue is people such as Gary Gilmore and this present dirt-bag who prey on women.

Possibly the only good thing that Gilmore did in his life was to insist upon being executed for his multiple murders. His execution marked the end of about a decade long moratorium on executions in this country.

Frankly, I am surprised that the prosecution did not go for death for our current dirt-bag: Texas is number one in executions in this country, and it is people such as he who keep us there.

Well, and along with Texas being one of the reddest of the Red States.

17. the anonymous sex sentence explains it all

and defines the people who is looking for those services independently of their gender. Thats probably one of the arguments I would use to promote the legalization of prostitution so people don't need to look for anonymous sex services but for responsible adults who would take all the measures necessary to stop the spread of STDs

I can conclude that this individual is a chronic criminal but the married women are irresponsible and may have to be charge with the same crime if they spread the decease to their families. We are looking at adults here who don't want to wear a condom when they become the cheating spouse.

These details surfaced here locally immediately after it hit the news..but then the details were dropped from any of the articles/reports.
Needless to say, the martial arts school scrubbed his picture and bio from their website within hours of his arrest.

I found a few online articles with the info from back then before the news dropped the martial arts/mothers info.

There could easily be dozens more women who have not come forward..not only did he hook up with the (married) mothers, he also hit the club/bar scene in Addison, TX--there is no telling how many he slept with/exposed--that city is wall to wall bars/clubs.

After FOX 4 showed the photo of Philippe Padieu Wednesday night, at least two more women have contacted Frisco police, saying they may also be infected with HIV after sleeping with the 51-year-old martial arts instructor.

“He’s like a terrorist with a different kind of bomb, slowly infecting as many people as he could have sex with,” said a woman we’re calling “Elaine” to protect her identity. Elaine is an acquaintance of Padieu, the man who on Wednesday remained in the Collin County jail on the four felony charges of First Degree Assault. She describes him as a French playboy who seduced women he met through his job as a martial arts instructor at EC Athletics, a Plano school for cheerleading, tumbling and karate. The school teaches young children, and there are always mothers around.

“He was dating women that were married, and they didn’t know about each other,” Elaine said. “I knew about four or five.” So far four women have tested positive for HIV. Frisco police Sgt. Gerald Meadors says each of woman eventually discovered she wasn’t Padieu’s exclusive partner. One believed his monogamous lies for four years. “The victims learned of each other, and through talking with each other were themselves tested,” he said. Police arrested Padieu at a bar in Addison and say they have no idea how many people he may have come into contact with since testing HIV-positive in 2005.

“I know he was going out every night,” said Elaine.
