Committee Clears Australia on Iraq Claims

CANBERRA, Australia -- A parliamentary committee on Monday cleared the Australian government of exaggerating the threat of Iraq's prewar weapons programs, saying Canberra's assessment was "more moderate" than those of Britain and the United States.

However, the committee also recommended a second independent inquiry into the performance of Australia's intelligence agencies in the aftermath of the war.
