Report: Sept. 11 Coordinator Met Hijacker
MADRID, Spain -- The suspected coordinator of the Sept. 11 attacks is being held at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and has told investigators he met with the lead hijacker, a Spanish newspaper reported Sunday.

El Pais, the country's largest daily newspaper, said Ramzi Binalshibh, who was arrested in Pakistan in September 2002, acknowledged meeting Mohamed Atta of Egypt in July 2001 -- two months before the attacks in the United States.

The story cites an FBI report given to Spain's Civil Guard as its source. The Civil Guard is the national police force.

A U.S. official in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity, declined to comment Sunday on Binalshibh's whereabouts or other details in the El Pais report.

A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy said "this information didn't come from us."

4. Not feeling with-it, but...
Just after the attacks Republicans insisted the attacks were planned years prior to imply it was Clinton's fault. And, to be sure it was conjured years prior, but, was it effected only after Bush swaggered onto the scene and finalized only because Bush was on the scene? I'd bet Bush made them more serious.

Second, Atta is being charged and this is a stepping stone toward convicting him, which I hope they do. I fear the Bush team is keystone cop incompetent.

2. Wonder how many volts got him to admit that?...
...Additionally, I don't recall that anything has been written stating that Atta left the U. S. and returned during the time period specified.

Just goes to show you...if you don't know the truth, make it up.

5. This is same guy they refused to produce for the other recent
trials, I can't remember what country it was. But their case fell apart because the US wouldn't provide this witness. Heard a rumour they don't even have him, and that he may not even be alive.
