Report: Ebbers to face federal criminal charges

NEW YORK -- U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft was expected to announce criminal charges Tuesday against former WorldCom Inc. chief executive Bernard Ebbers, according to a television report.

The charges would include securities fraud and conspiracy, WNBC-TV reported late Monday, citing anonymous Justice Department sources.

Ebbers did not return calls for comment, WNBC reported.

Ashcroft would fly to New York to announce the charges at a news conference, but Ebbers would be arraigned at a later date yet to be determined, the station said.

1. Well it's no biggie anyway.. He's had a few years

to get his "affairs" in order.. I am sure he has plenty stashed in an off-shore account.. His family will never want for a thing.. He may cop a plea and get a few months at a "bed & breakfast prison", but when he gets out, he'll still have all that money :).. and then he will probably write a book and make even more..

Criime DOES pay.. if it's white collar crime..
