Cheney Dismisses Talk Bush Might Drop Him

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/campaign_cheney_dc

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) on Tuesday brushed aside speculation that President Bush (news - web sites) might consider replacing him on his re-election ticket.

"He's asked me to serve with him on the ticket again for the next four years," Cheney said in an interview with Fox News. "I'm happy to do that as long as I can be of assistance and he wants me in that spot, I plan to serve," he said.

The vice president has high negative ratings in public opinion polls. He is a lightning rod for Democratic criticism of Bush's policies, partly because of his position as former head of Halliburton Co., the energy company that has been given big reconstruction contracts in post-war Iraq (news - web sites).

"He tells me he's reviewed all the candidates, and he's come back with the same recommendation as last time," Bush said. "In fact, I made the choice myself, and I have taken the measure of this man. They don't come any better, and I am proud to have Dick Cheney by my side."

1. what else is he going to say?
You have to tow the party line with those cats. I am surprised he came up for air long enough to give an "on the record" response.

3. Actually if he was dropped a lot of people would be scared
They can say it over and over but I can't believe that anyone actually thinks W is running the show and even his supporters don't want him to be...but they would never say that.

4. You're correct...
I am genuinely frightened by the folks who truly believe that bush* is running the show - if there ever was a puppet, it's bush*

5. Has anyone else noticed...
Cheney looks the scariest when he tries to look harmless. It's like he has some internal demon that can't...quite...let..go...

6. Asking AWOL to serve without Cheney
is like asking a child to make it alone
without his parent.

AWOL cannot do anything without Cheney
pulling the strings. AWOL is full of fear
without his handlers.

8. Even if Cheney removed himself from the ticket
he would still be in control, unless the ones that control Cheney decide he's too much of a liability. Then he'll probably have another heart attack soon.

11. Dropping Cheney would plant doubts
in the constituency. That could lead to questioning Ze Partie. Can't have that! So, no matter what, Ze Partie line will be "Cheney's great; most honorable guy on the face of the Earth."

If the decision-machine decides behind the scenes they don't like Cheney's input, they'll just brush him aside, while keeping the image intact, for the sake of the sheeple (ha!, who came up with that, sheeple? good one!)

I can't imagine they would actually "demote" him though. He contributes too much to the Evil Pie.

13. They won't demote him...
In the next couple of months, he'll remove himself from the ticket saying it is for "health reasons."

17. They can't get rid of Cheney, he's too dangerous
He knows more about BFEE black ops than anyone alive. He kept poppy from being indicted during Iran-Contra. A rift with Cheney would imply untenable risks for the criminal cabal. He could put the whole administration in prison. They sink or swim together.

18. Since it is perceived that Cheney is running the show,
it would be foolish for Bush to dump him. Bush's base certainly by now realizes that his "strength" is derived from Cheney policies.
