A faili Kurdish family of eight have come under death threats after their oldest daughter has refused to have a sexual relationship with the head of a PUK security officer in Darbandihkan, south Kurdistan..ultimately the family was forced to leave Kurdistan towards the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on 8th of January 2004....
"The PUK officer took me and my father and my sisters to Sulaimani in order to issue a Personal I.D. "Nasname" for me. When we arrived in Sulaimani, he told us that today is a holiday and he took us to Sarchinar tourist’s attraction. He sent everyone away and told me ’Shayma, there are many hotels here in Sarchinar and I have private rooms. I love you very much and tonight you have to have sex with me.’ Shayme has told the newspaper that he has told him ’Shame on you. You are so old that can be my father’.’"
The PUK security officer has told her, "fathers and brothers do not exist for me." The PUK officer allegedly has later threatened Shayme’s sister at gunpoint to buy some nuts for him, in order to leave him and Shayme alone. Shayma’s sister has refused to do so. The PUK officer has later told Shayme "if you do this thing with me, I will do whatever you want."...
