Mich. to Charge Confessed Serial Killer Who Is Scheduled for 2006 release

FERNDALE, Mich. (AP) - Authorities for years have been scouring dozens of old murder cases, looking for evidence that might prevent a confessed serial killer's release from a Texas prison, scheduled for 2006.
Now, the Michigan state attorney's office says it plans to charge Coral Eugene Watts in a 1979 stabbing, officials close to the investigation told the Detroit Free Press for a story in Thursday editions.

Watts, 50, has claimed to have killed 22 people in Texas, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario. He is a suspect in dozens of other deaths, officials said.
