Grady Memorial Hospital to make 300 job cuts (Atlanta)

Grady Memorial Hospital will cut 300 jobs by March 16, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.

A letter was sent to employees Dec. 4 notifying them that 300 full-time positions will be eliminated after the first of the year. At the time, officials said the job eliminations will not affect employees involved in direct patient care, including doctors and nurses. The hospital employs about 5,300.

The downsizing is part of a master plan to right the hospital's financial picture and also is intended to send a message to Fulton and DeKalb counties that the hospital needs additional support from the counties to fund its mission.

Gosh, aren't we glad that "everyone" got that $300 refund in advance! Look how well those "tax cuts" work to create JOBS! I guess those county taxes will have to be cut in order for more JOBS to appear!
