Kerry VP talk includes a Clinton (Nit-Picklering!)
Kerry VP talk includes a Clinton

March 4, 2004

BY NEDRA PICKLER

Nomination well in hand, Democrat John Kerry took the first steps Wednesday toward selecting a No. 2 for his ticket, with options that include governors from the Midwest and Southwest, members of President Bill Clinton's economic team and a larger-than-life former first lady.

LINK

No, nobody says that Hillary Clinton was an option, Hillary Clinton herself never said she wanted to be VP, but don't let that get in the way of The Pickler throwing alarmist red meat to Clinton-hating repubes.

1. The ditto heads and freepers are desperate to have a Clinton on the ticket
Opposition to the Clinton's define their entire political universe. So sad.

3. Why?
With Hillary on the ticket I think Kerry would win in a landslide. More people love her than not.

5. I Agree That The "Hatred" For Hillary Is Way Overblown
That doesn't stop the media for calling her "controversial" and "polarizing", because she is a strong, independent woman - unlike the First Stepford Wife Pickles Bush.

And whenever Hillary is mentioned, Bill Clinton is mentioned, and we get to relive the sex scandals again, blah, blah, blah, etc, etc, etc. I just don't think that kind of media attention is what we need right now, and I sorta hope that Hillary isn't put into the spotlight again.

BTW welcome to DU :toast: :toast:

6. Millions have been conditioned to knee jerk at the name Clinton
I think we would be much better off with a fresh face than have to overcome 12 years of vicious attacks and political definition of the Clinton's by the extreme right.

I really do not think we can afford to refight those battles again.

13. I think Hillary deserves her shot at the seat
She has done more for America than any other candidate on the shelf.

Why not let her take her best shot instead of letting wingers define her?

2. When Nedra Pickler suggests Hillary could be a veep choice,
She neglects to mention that Hillary isn't running.

8. It. Ain't. Gonna. Happen.
Why in hell do people keep talking about this?

Hillary is not, will not and won't be asked to run as Kerry's VP. Period. End of story.

10. She was recently the most admired woman in America, her book sold way over
a million copies (outstanding for genre of book), she is the "victim" in the sex scandal - therefor bringing it up will only generate sympathy for her - so the Pubs won't harp on it too much because they know it might backfire.

And the BIG thing is: THE BIG DOG WILL CAMPAIGN FOR HER. Clinton IS STILL AS POPULAR AS A ROCK STAR IN MANY CIRCLES.

And last - but not least- I want a Clinton to beat a Bush - again!!

11. Why would Kerry choose either Clinton as VP candidate?
-She's not running
-Too many people hate her
-She's not close to Kerry in any way

The Republicans are so frenzied about the possibility that Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Roger Clinton, Hugh Rodham, Socks the Cat, or Vince Foster's ghost will be selected as Kerry's running mate.

What better way to defuse this hopeful speculation than by Kerry selecting someone with NO Clinton connection.

It's just a Republican wet dream.

Newsflash: Clinton isn't president anymore, his wife isn't going to be chosen as a VP nominee (she has repeatedly said she's not running).

I don't like Clinton. He was a much better president than either Bush, to be sure, but it is OVER.

Ms. Pickler seems to have a very vivid imagination.

16. Yes, you are correct
Hillary and Kerry both voted for the Iraq War Resolution.

It remains as a huge problem.

I'll qualify my earlier statement by saying that my support of Kerry is conditional. I'll vote for him in November to get rid of Bush.

But to include any Clinton on the ticket is not a good idea. I'm sure Kerry knows this already.

17. I love both of the Clinton's however the media
has almost if not totally ruined them. Until we have media outlets, I'm afraid we'll have to put the Clinton's on the back burner. The media is soooo evil.

Hillary LOVES what she is doing. She loves being in the senate and will go along with the press and fan the flames of "are you running for president...... vp" ..... blah, blah, BLAH!

Would I like to see Hillary as president? Hell yes! Is Hillary stupid? HELL NO!!! Hillary has said time and time again that she wants to finish her term as senator. She is gonna do just that. IF and I repeat IF there is a chance she could run for president in the future (2012.... I hope) she would. People seem to think (here and in Freeperland) that Hillary is out for one thing and one thing only ..... Hillary. WRONG! Hillary Clinton LOVES to make a difference. Be that as First Lady, Senator or whatever, that is what she wants to do. Hillary has worked her life for what she believes in. She is not some evil person that she has been painted out to be.

Senator Clinton WANTS Bush out of the White House in 2004. Period!

This crock of shit of "she wants to Bush to win in '04 so she can run in '08" is BULL SHIT!!!
