Bill would let voters, not Romney, fill Kerry's senate seat
BOSTON (AP) Massachusetts voters, and not Gov. Mitt Romney, would choose John Kerry's replacement in the U.S. Senate if he is elected president under a bill filed on Beacon Hill on Thursday.

Currently the governor has the authority to name a replacement if a senator from Massachusetts leaves office midterm. The replacement fills out the remainder of the term before facing an election.

Under the bill filed by Democratic leaders at the Statehouse, a special election would be required to fill a U.S. Senate vacancy.

1. About Time! :-)
I love to watch Mitt when he has lost control!

:-)

Meanwhile only 30000 more manhole covers in Boston left to be inspected so that we can stop frying dogs - NSTAR says they will start tomorrow..

NSTAR should not have burned the champion dog owned by that lady (who sounds like a lawyer - and like she has a lot of money and is willing to spend some to teach NSTAR a lesson - heck they were on the sidewalk - never touched the manhole cover - but the parking meter was "live" also - Boston is an exciting town!)

:-)

5. Do the Dems in the Mass legislature have the numbers?
I am not familiar with the Mass legislature, are there enough Dems to over ride a romney veto?

This would be great!

6. In the Senate 33 D's and 7 R's. I don't know what the
breakdown of the House is other than a D majority.

The names I've heard for a Kerry replacement are Tierney, Meehan and Frank.
