Ok. Lawmaker Denies Using Hitler Angle (Vote Vs. W like a vote for Hitler)
WASHINGTON -- Oklahoma Republican Rep. Tom Cole said Thursday he did not intend to equate a vote against President Bush to a vote for Adolf Hitler, but stuck by recent comments that a Bush loss would be a win for Osama bin Laden.

During a speech to Republicans in Yukon, Okla., last Saturday, the first-term congressman said that "if George Bush loses the election, Osama bin Laden wins the election" since enemies of the United States would interpret it as a sign of weakness.

Bin Laden is the alleged mastermind of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, that killed nearly 3,000 people.

"What do you think Hitler would have thought if Roosevelt would've lost the election in 1944? He would have thought American resolve was" (weakening), Cole said, according to a spokeswoman.

2. Osama NEEDS Bush to win the election
the worst thing that could happen for Osama would be for a reasonable, intelligent person to become president of the US.

Bush is PERFECT for recruiting for Al Qaeda, and he's a gift from god for them.

This guy's got it all backwards!!!

I think what he's REALLY trying to say is that the Republicans know Bush will lose, so they are angling to CANCEL THE ELECTIONS!!!

23. So, so true. Bush galvanizes recruits for bin Laden!!!
Time for THAT kind of statement to be made!!! I mean, damn already. These guys have the "frame" game of linguistics mastered. We are simply going to have to do our own counter-framing long enough to get our own greater vision out there to the people. It sucks. But, even the most decent people must accept the challenge of effectively dealing with heartless predators.

5. Repost from another thread on why Cole has it bass-ackwards.
Mr. O. B. Laden has had it easy under aWol, who pulled the cruise missle-armed submarines off station, cancelled the Predator search for him, let him escape from Tora Bora/Khost, transferred our best special operators off the hunt for him to use them in his heinous war for oil, refused three times to approve military plans to attack his sympathizers in Iraq, and lied to start an unnecessary and costly war which enhances terrorist recruitment beyond Bin Laden's wildest dreams.

Bin Laden will be tickled pink if the stupidest President ever is reelected. But he would tremble at the prospect of a Kerry administration with Clark in it, who would track down and smoke his ass.

Cole must be a Bin Laden lap dog, and is probably raking in plenty of blood money off the war like so many of his fellow repukes.

6. recognizing & fixing a mistake is interpreted as a sign of strength
at least in the adult world.

the point of a democracy like america is that if even a "time of war" the commander in chief still has to face the people for what he/she has done.

8. i know what hitler would have thought
FDR died while Hitler was still alive and Hitler rejoiced in his bunker for a few minutes and in a couple of weeks another democrat by the name of Harry Truman finished the job. BTW FDR did not have the 1944 democratic convention next to the sunken USS arizona like the great 9/11 GOP-he had something Bush doesn't have-a clue!

9. OBL was VERY happy when W won before, why not now.
When Bush took office he extracted the OBL death order and the teams watching OBL in order that a Navy ship could launch a missle to kill OBL. OBL was dancing. OBL was thinking that OBL won.

Now, it's the opposite? An ineffectual Bush who so far has only been able to catch toothless tiger Hussein;
languishes to catch OBL,
can't seem to find the Anthrax sender (despite it being from Ft. Detrick military monitored lab),
cannot figure out who of his own staff outed a twenty-year spy out of spite over the spouse telling us the truth about Iraq's nuclear purchase documentaion that was fabricated evidence,
could not find WMD after claims they had pictures of them, and
dismally failed to catch the patronage of major countries of a 9/11-sympathetic world in order to disarm Iraq.

Having this LOSER-IN-CHIEF back will scare OBL, that's a laugh.

13. The DNC needs to hammer away at this
This sort of McCarthyism actually works. It scares and shames people into obedience. Beyond the effect at the polls, it can unleash astonishing poisons into society - it is a summons to violent fascism.

If the Democrats don't want to be beaten in November, the party has to hammer away until there is an apology.

17. Response from Democratic Whip, Steny Hoyer
(snip)
"If the news reports by radio station KTOK in Oklahoma City regarding Congressman Cole's comments are correct, then he ought to be ashamed of himself and Members on both sides of the aisle ought to repudiate them as completely wrong, unacceptable and out-of-bounds.

"Senator John Kerry is a war hero who served our nation with honor and distinction. For Congressman Cole to disagree with Senator Kerry's views is one thing. But for him to impugn John Kerry's patriotism and career-long commitment to our national security by suggesting that a vote against George Bush is like supporting Adolf Hitler or Osama bin Laden is beyond comprehension. Congressman Cole ought to know better.

"In the past, Republicans have often come close to the line of making direct attacks on the patriotism of Democrats. But these comments are so brazen and so base that I urge all of my colleagues -- Democrat and Republican alike -- to denounce them as clearly wrong and unacceptable.
(snip)

"It is a sad day in America when a public servant like John Kerry, who literally put his own life in harm's way in service of his country, can be compared to two of history's most despicable mass-murderers. If this is how the Republican Party hopes to bring John Kerry down, the American people are going to see right through it."

18. The same moron Admin that has gutted the CIA?!
Bush is an idiot! He gutted the most important agency that deals with fighting terrorists (Central Intelligence) and outs agents or replaces agents with neo-con radicals. OBL will jump for joy is Bush gets re-elected (if he is still free or alive to jump that is).

24. This is just pathetic
What he failed to mention is that after Roosevelt died in April 1945 Hitler and his cronies thought that it was a turning point in the war. They felt that this was a providential event and that the new president, Truman, would not prosecute the war to it's conclusion. Guess what? They were wrong. America pursued the war without missing a beat. When * is voted out of office in November Kerry will go about the task of finding Osama Bin Laden. A task that should have been completed years ago and would have had * not gotten us into the Iraqi quagmire. My personal guess is that Osama wouldn't mind * getting elected at all. After all with * in office Osama has pretty much been able to go about business as usual.
