Ariz. Governor Nixes Abortion Consent Bill
PHOENIX -- Following through on her campaign promise to protect abortion rights, Gov. Janet Napolitano has vetoed a proposal to impose a 24-hour waiting period for women who want the procedure.

Supporters of the bill said abortion providers don't provide information on risks and alternatives to abortions, and that the "informed consent" legislation would have helped women make better decisions.

But Napolitano wrote in her veto letter Thursday that the legislation "merely imposes a burden on a woman's exercise of her constitutionally protected rights."

1. You can look for her to become one of the
neo-con and religious right specific targets come next election. At least, that's what they've done in this state.

The "Laughter of the Gods" article is very accurate as far as I'm concerned.

2. Jesse Ventura reffered to the Minnesota version as
the "Women are Stupid bill". Pointed out it would make abortion the ONLY medical procedure with a government mandate that information be provided and a mandated waiting period.

Of course, now that we have a Rethug governor the waiting period passed. The state health department writes up the information that is required to be given to women seeking an abortion. Originally it implied a link to breast cancer but that was taken down under pressure.
