Corruption Charge Dismissed Against Ex-Tyco Execs
March 5 — NEW YORK (Reuters) - A judge threw out an enterprise corruption charge against two former Tyco International Ltd. executives on Friday, removing one of the most serious claims in a 33-count indictment that accuses them of looting the conglomerate of $600 million.
Jurors begin deliberations next week on the remaining charges against the former executives. The men are accused of grand larceny, conspiracy, securities fraud and falsifying business records.
Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Michael Obus dismissed a single count of enterprise corruption, which carries up to 25 years in prison, against former Tyco Chairman Dennis Kozlowski and Mark Swartz, the company's former chief financial officer.
