US defends Israel's military operations in Gaza Strip
The United States has defended Israel's right to combat terrorism, one day after an Israeli military operation in a central Gaza Strip refugee camp killed 14 Palestinians.

"We do recognise Israel's right to defend itself against terrorism," US State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said.

It is up to the Palestinian Authority to put an end to the violence, Mr Boucher said.

"We believe the best way to move forward is for the Palestinian Authority to begin by making an effort against terror and violence, an effort that's far more serious than the one that they have made over the past few years," he said.

Wonderful news. The long tradition of America's bipartisan support for Israel helps ensure her survival.

1. Herschel, I meant to ask you in an earlier post about the report Israel
would delay action about the Gaza settlements until after the US elections. It had me going whaaa? You seem to watch the situation, what's you're take. I thought it awkward, if that's the right word, for a foreign country to time its actions in relation to the US elections? Thanks, pinto.

3. Indeed
the relationship between Israel and America is like no other. We cannot be too surprised when their political affairs seem so intertwined.

6. do you see a political purpose, security purpose, something related to UN
stands? Obviously, the association with our election is the point. But I'm not sure what that point is....don't expect you to be the guru of international affairs, but I'd like your take. thks again.

8. I am skeptical
of the report. Israel has shown she will act independently of American influence if her vital interests are at stake. The Gaza issue is too critical to hinge on the timetable of American elections.

I was going to ask you if the above policy declaration could be applied to the attack on the USS Liberty, but then realized the case DID involve American influence.

Nevermind.

Maybe you mean Israel doesn't ultimately care about US proirities in the rare cases in which the program hasn't already been suited for Zionist approval by shadow government fixers in Washington.

Just trying to be clear. There's nothing for America to gain by going along with Israel come hell or high water. It's ONLY for the sake of the tribe.

Herein lies proof of control and subversion by the ruling tribal elite and their minion. There is NO OTHER REASON TO SUPPORT ISRAEL'S VIOLATIONS OF INTERNATIONAL LAW!

2. Am I missing something?
What did they do to deserve this? I heard there were children killed also. I fail to see how being uneven in how we deal with the Palestinian/Israeli issue is so wonderful.

4. Sadly
armed terrorists held children in the air and also mingled amongst them. Also, remember these so called children are often combatants.

5. Huh?
Were you there? From the pictures I saw on the news-- the tanks just opened fire on some crowds and the Palestinians started running for their lives. How can this be justified? I cannot believe that you would even attempt to say that this is okay without any regard for what was, more than likely, innocent lives.

9. Strikes against terrorist strongholds
often involve collateral damage. I am not familiar with the role of the younger Palestinians taken down. However, we should be mindful they are often purposely endangered by their own to generate sympathy. Also, Palestinians train children by the thousands to be combatants. These trainees are as young as ten.

11. I believe you are hopelessly wasting your time trying have a balanced
discussion here about US/Israeli policies. Move on. Most of here know what the real problems are and how the Israeli government virtually controls ours...nothing new here. We just have to live with it until there is divine intervention. Merely changing the political party in control in the US won't change a thing. And as Herschel said, our blind support of Israel does ensure its survival and while at the same time it ensures our own demise. Thanks to our unbalance and unjust ME policy we have become the most despised rougue nation on earth and our citizens and citizens of the entire world will be paying for it one way or another for decades.

I think I'm starting to figure it all out. I was a blind supporter of Israel for all of my life. I always thought that whatever Israel did to the Palestinians was justified. That all changed when I saw the documentary called Promises. It opened my eyes to the suffering on both sides and gave me pause to become more aware of what is happening in my name.

10. Begging your pardon
Support of Israel runs strong in both parties. This insures America will continue strong support of Israel regardless of election outcomes. Kerry is in line. Be glad.

13. Denial.
If the support were so strong for the continuing occupation, my bet is that we wouldn't be seeing these ridiculous parody posts in LBN. It would be quiet and business as usual.
