Flashpoints & KPFA reports on the ground live in Haiti - Kevin Pina
Edited on Mon Mar-08-04 08:36 PM by eablair3
amazing stuff. live on the ground from Haiti now.

http://www.flashpoints.net/

talking about what happened in the protests. how the elite's radio stations are feeding the AP and REuters and how those reports are not accurate.

touching story of some young girl who is now on the opposition hit list because there was a pic of her in a school giving flowers to Aristide. Apparently, the "opposition" said they are trying to find this girl.

the opposition is "denouncing" Kevin Pina.

YOU WON'T HEAR THIS STUFF REPORTED IN THE MASS MEDIA.

1. Brian Concannon reporting now from CAR
Edited on Mon Mar-08-04 08:30 PM by eablair3
reporting now at the link above

Mildred Aristide WAS NOT allowed to speak at the news event today in CAR. One of the reporters asked and the CAR Minister told them she was not allowed to speak.

Everything CAR does has to be checked with France and the U.S., according to Concannon. CAR first denied him and others access. Then, they told him they had to check overnight, and he was granted access the next day. He said it's obvious that they have to check with the U.S. and France.

3. Concannon giving a rundown of legal and international actions being taken
Concannon giving a rundown of the various international and legal actions being taken and contemplated.

Now, he's talking about the "security" detail of Aristide, and how these people had to go with their families.

Concannon telling how difficult it was to get to CAR. It's really remote. It took him 3 days to get there. There is one plane a day, and he said most journalists are leaving soon. So, there will be less and less coverage. He said that he thought this was a planned move and presented as a fait accompli.

5. interniew in the second half of all the good things Aristide did for women
Focusing on International Woman's Day and Haiti-

interesting interview with a Haitian woman in the second half of all the progress made in Haiti by Aristide and his wife Mildred for all the women in Haiti and for the poor. Women stand to lose the gains made under Aristide, according to the interviewee. Women were senators and in parliament under Aristide.

They say it will be different this time. ... The Haitians have tasted freedom under Aristide now, and they won't go back to the military dictatorship and corrupt regimes of the past.
