3. I'm now waiting for the NRA to take a strong stand
I think the rights of gun ownership belong to more than just rural white males.

Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 06:28 PM by Argumentus
is concerned with anyone other than rural white males?

5. lol
That sounds just a wee bit optimistic. I wonder why the Iraqis haven't been disarmed like the Haitians are apparently going to be?

7. SOP for the BFEE
Attempt to disarm local population - as resistance commences, violence escalates - a soldier gets shot, State Media plays it as an 'attack on America' - money roles into private weapon/security contractors coffers as country destabilizes further = Mission Accomplished.

12. This will be a bloodbath
"No free man shall ever be de-barred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort to protect
themselves against tyranny in government."
- Thomas Jefferson, of Virginia, Proposed Virginia Constitution, 1776

No way would I give up my gun if I were Haitian right now, no way.

Call me a reformed (by fear of my own government) gun owning liberal.

10. This allows them to shoot anyone not disarmed
But they will probably only shoot pro-Aristide people, and give the other side a wink and nod. In a while, Bushco hopes this will disarm the side they don't like, all nice and 'legal'. The marines may have a tough time implementing the plan, though.

14. So let me see if I get this?
First we arm all the rebels and then we ask them to give their arms back? And then they refuse to give their arms back, so we order the Marines to disarm them? Oh I bet that's going to go over like a lead balloon?

I'm starting to wonder if this is not really a Bu$hCo operation. I think maybe some secret ops guys might be giving Bu$hCo some pay back by busting open the Haiti situation again. This is the last thing W needed right before the election and you can tell that the WH really doesn't have a game plan at all. Very out of character.

17. Not having a game plan is out of character for BushCo?
Hello?

Iraq?
Afghanistan?
The Economy?

I'd say it's very much in character.

19. Just because their game plan sucked
and they could care less about the fallout from their actions, that doesn't mean they didn't have a game plan. The Pax Americana proves they had a major game plan and I don't recall seeing Haiti on any of their lists.

I think someone stirred up Haiti to screw Bu$hCo. You would assume that there will be rogue elements within the company and some of them may think it's time for some payback.

23. you got it
but this could just be one of those known unknowns they were obviously willing to RISK.

neoCON<->RADICALS

either way this is definately a BIG problem for the 'DREAM-TEAM' right now and venuzela is either taking advantage of the situation and either pre-EMPTIVELY trying to inoculate themselves from any designs the 'DREAM-TEAM' may have on them or just rubbing their noses in it or all of the above

but the unknowns, unknowns are what have always had me concerned ;-)

:hi:

peace

16. That would invalidate the Haitian Constitution of 1987
Unless they're talking about people bearing arms in public.

ARTICLE 268-1: Every citizen has the right to armed self defense, within the bounds of this domicile, but has noright to bear arms without express well-founded authorization from the Chief of Police.

21. That's a nice provision - within the bounds of the domicile
Too bad our constitutional wizards didn't make a distinction. I guess they forgot to take into account cell phones, squad cars, police helicopters etc. Were there even police departments at that time ?
