Manpower survey -hiring increase in 2010

A survey by Manpower, Inc, the temp agency, states that many employers plan increased hiring in the first quarter of 2010 - and that the emphasis has shifted from "if they will hire" to "when they will hire". Survey also found that the large majority of employers have no plans for more layoffs next year.

Not great, but certainly better than many people thought - could be the real start of a recovery in actual jobs.

There is a long history of gloomers and doomers forecasting a sluggish recovery after a recession, and then the recovery turns out to be stronger than anyone anticipated. After the early 90's recession the gloomers predicted a sluggish, Japan-style recovery. It didn't happen.

8. Your prediction was right on the money. The survey was taken by

Manpower temp agency, therefore they are saying the jobs will al be temp jobs. The manufacturers stated they will be HIRING people, not taking on temps, and that they have NO PLANS to lay any more people off.

People just want to be negative even in the face of positive news.

5. Contracting has been the trend since Clinton. I've been a contractor

since 2004. I'd love to get a good contracting job right now. I've been out of work since October of 2008. :scared:

depending upon who you are contracted out by.

But when your business is a staffing firm, I assume you issue reports to the public that say you expect more business in the next year.
