Sterling public hearing on prison sale still a go: Prison can be sold without panel’s OK
Source: Sauk Valley Newspapers

A hearing Dec. 22 in Sterling to present information on the prison sale, and to gather public opinion, will go on as planned, as required by state law.

...

The Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability will hold a public hearing on the proposed sale of Thomson Correctional Center at 2 p.m. Dec. 22 in Sterling High School’s Centennial Auditorium, 1608 Fourth Ave.

Illinois TEA Party Patriots, who have staged dozens of protests against bailout and federal stimulus spending, plan to rally outside the auditorium 1 hour before the hearing, to protest the plan to house Department of Defense detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in the prison.

Tea-Bag Counter-Protest (Gitmo Trials)
Tuesday, December 22nd 2009 1 P.M.
Sterling, IL USA

Opponents of a plan to house Guantanamo Bay detainees in Carroll County say they’ll protest the move before a public hearing to be held by an advisory panel made up of state House and Senate members.

Illinois TEA Party Patriots plan to rally outside Sterling High School’s Centennial Auditorium 1 hour before the Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability opens a mandatory hearing on the sale of Thomson Correctional Center to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Any patriotic American still interested in justice, rather than revenge, is encouraged to show up and let the Tea-Baggers know that this is STILL America.

2. For the same reason...
For the same reason that Thomson never opened up in the first place: the state is cash strapped, and can't afford to operate the prisons it already has.
