Woods voted top athlete of the decade
Source: Associated Press

Even after a shocking sex scandal that tarnished Tiger Woods, it was tough to ignore what he achieved on the golf course.

He won 64 times around the world, including 12 majors, and hoisted a trophy on every continent golf is played. He lost only one time with the lead going into the final round. His 56 PGA Tour victories in one incomparable decade were more than anyone except four of golf's greatest players won in their careers.

Woods was selected Wednesday as the Athlete of the Decade by members of The Associated Press in a vote that was more about 10 years of performance than nearly three weeks of salacious headlines.

Just like so many of his victories, it wasn't much of a contest. Woods received 56 of the 142 votes cast by AP member editors since last month. More than half of the ballots were returned after the Nov. 27 car accident outside his Florida home that set off sensational tales of infidelity.

6. Heard Some Allegations That He Might Have Been Taking Performance Enhancement Drugs (PED's).......
any truth to that?

I know I hadn't watched golf in years. I remember seeing Tiger before he was married and while his Dad was still alive. Then recently I saw him in a newsclip after winning a match - he looked buffed like Sammy Sosa or McGuire. I made the comment then that I bet he was taking some PED's.

I wondering if that is true. If so - I blame the PGA as well as him for that. If there was any suspicion - the PGA should have reigned him in.

9. Doubt it
I heard the same vague accusation along the lines of well a doctor that once might have treated Woods may be connected to performance enhancing drugs. I would like somebody to tell me how 'performance enhancing drugs' would make you a better golfer. If you are stronger you might be able to hit it further but there are a lot of big, strong guys out there that hit the ball a long ways, usually into the trees, but that doesn't necessarily make them a great golfer. As I understand it most if not all the performance enhancing drugs are really 'workout enhancing' drugs. They allow the athlete to work harder in the gym and recover faster therefore allowing them to build bigger and stronger muscles. No magic pill you still have to put in the time in the gym and you still have to have the high level of skill to play well. I would guess I could do steroids and work my ass of in the gym and I would still be lucky to break 100 for 18 holes and noway would it make me competitive with Tiger.

23. Tiger made
the light shine on the golfing world and now they are not happy. oh boo hoo. His awards are his to get. But looks like Tiger was getting more than a hole in one they say sixteen but who's counting. And yes he was connected to a doctor who is known for use of those human growth hormones. But the reports state that the work he did on Tiger is the same he has done on football players and other athletes, which is a blood spinning technique that separates the blood platelets so that the blood platelets can be reabsorbed into the injured area. And if Tiger looked buffed when he got back from his knee injury,it takes a lot of exercise to keep up with his dance card.
