Suspicious package cleared from Baucus office

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Capitol Police gave an all-clear on Wednesday after investigating a suspicious package with a powdery substance that was found at the office of Sen. Max Baucus.

An Associated Press photographer at the scene, in the Hart Senate Office Building, heard officers say there was a threatening note with the package. Schneider would not confirm there was a note.

I thought all congressional mail now went through some sort of magical irradiation procedure and was sequestered for a certain period of time so that even if something like this happened it wouldn't be dangerous.
