MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexican security forces killed drug lord Arturo Beltran Leyva, one of the most wanted traffickers in both Mexico and the United States, in a gunfight on Wednesday, the Navy said.

Beltran Leyva, the head of a cartel of the same name he ran with his four brothers, was killed in a luxury residential complex in the southern city of Cuernavaca.

"We confirm the death of Arturo Beltran Leyva. He was killed in a navy operation in Cuernavaca," said a navy captain who declined to be named.

The Navy said in a statement that four bodyguards had died together with Beltran Leyva, an ally turned foe of Mexico's No.1 most wanted man Joaquin "Shorty" Guzman.

5. nope
prepare for more, so now rivals will kill each other trying to take over, and more and more civilians will get killed as a result, because they either won't take a bribe or took the wrong side when choosing whose bribe to take, this will set of a wave or two or three of brutal killings, retaliations and what not. thats just my opinion from down here on the border.

14. Cuernavaca
Cuernavaca was pretty well all bought out by the Columbian
Cartels in the late 80s and early 90s.Mexico is the funnel and
what better place to run things is there than 1-2 hours out of
MX. City in the middle of the funnel.I do not agree with the
drug trade and the ruin of millions of people.I do beleive in
reality. When demand stops so will the narco
problems.Cuernavaca has i beleive the best average temperature
in the world. It is a garden where most of Mexico's flower
industry is run from.Thanks Mexdale

10. Because of them, I have to WATCH the news story
or I will be ducking for cover.

I was a medic with the Red Cross in Tijuana and got to "enjoy" the early shoot outs with the Arellano Felix...

And no, it is not barbaric. Many folks round these parts do not understand what they have done. Given we are starting to see the same early shoot outs in the US... people will get it. Unfortunately, they will get it.
